Rep Power: 0 | Opening a new salon--looking for beds and advice!!! Hello, I am a new member to this site. I am opening a new tanning salon in late August, early September. Right now we are trying to find used beds. I am interested in 4-5 regular 20 min. beds, 1-2 stand up beds, 2 high pressure beds w/facials, and an ultrabronz bed. I am also looking for help in ANY way possible from experienced salon owners. I have been doing a lot of research, talking to distributors, and visiting other salons to see what I can do to make my salon better. I would greatly appreciate any advice! Also, if any one has any beds that they are selling, let me know!! |

An ultrabronz is a bed with mostly UVA rays so it is like impossible to burn. In this bed, the client only has to tan 2-3 timese a month to keep their tan, after they intially tan 3-5 times when starting out. It is a really awesome bed, I've tanned in one several times, and know many people who only use the ultrabronz because it is less tanning sessions...easier on the skin!! |

Ok I think I understand. The stronger beds with facial tanners and side lamps are just an upgrade bed not high pressure then correct? |

I think at this point you may have accumulated incomplete and inaccurate information. Being successful in this or any industry requires a great deal of accurate knowledge. Searching for used equipment unless it is all current equipment less than a year old is probably a big mistake for a new salon. Packaging is everything, the tan is really secondary to what you are selling. It is the trip that will set you apart not the destination. Your equipment is a gig part of your packaging as is your salon design. When you say you have decided on the type of systems you want, what are you basing this on? Your equipment are tools to support your marketing program. I can only assume you have a complete plan for success including, pricing, Tanning Center Guide, Employee Training Manual, Advertising Strategies and so on. Without these things there is no way to determine the appropriate mix of equipment. You must also understand exactly the differences in equipment types in order to decide which types will best support your program. You must make sure there are wide separations in performance between models and so much more. I suggest you take a step back and refocus. Be prepared and eliminate all surprises and you will succeed. |

There are a lot of people on here that can help you, even though there are a lot of opinions on equipment mix. Start using the search function on here and start reading. when you come across something that you don't understand or just need clerified, ask. But first start reading.
