24 Hour Policy - tanTALK

Hey guys, I am having a huge problem. The previous owner did not abide by the 24 hour rule, and now that some of the old customers are coming back, finally, to the salon they are complaining about the 24 hours policy. How do I explain to them why we do this? We unfortunately are still on the card system so they know that through that we can lie on there because that was what the old owner did. We are hopefully going to be computerized soon, but not soon enough, we need money first --Rent needs to be paid. Please just give me some ideas. I am to slow to lose to many customers, but I don't want to bend on this and also if I did it now how would I get the people ready for when we computerize. Sorry just sick and tired of sending people to my comp.

According to regulations you can only tan once every 24 hours. If you are allowing tanners to tan more often than regulations you are voiding insurance and leaving yourself open for a law suite that will cost you your store and much more. This is an indication as to the overall state of this salon. If someone gets upset because you are now enforcing the rule, offer them a free upgrade for the inconvenience and ask them to schedule their visits accordingly.

Double dipping is just so senseless if you ask me... explain that to them... Maybe post a notice that you got in trouble with the law (when you really didn't) or just keep letting people do it...more $ for you

I am not sure if he is talking about double dipping or someone coming in at 3pm on Monday and 10 am on Tuesday

I have a client (tanning right now) that jumps from salon to salon and tans twice a day. I know she's doing it but she lies about it. She doesn't understand that it isn't getting her any darker at all! It's useless but some people are so dumb. I wouldn't make that big of a deal over it if you don't live in a regulated State.

Tell them that is why the old owner had to sell and get out because they were only worried about taking your money and not about what was the right way to tan. Plus you can also mention that now that you have taken over you are doing regular bulb changes and tanning twice within a 24hr period is not necessary as the bulbs are stronger.......

Check with the State of South Carolina, Department whoever. The regulation might say once every day so, you are allowed to tan a person under 24 hours. Just can't tan twice in any one day. If the regs say 24 hours, then it's 24 hours

we write the time where they sign on the card every time and when we take appts on the phone we ask" Have you tanned in the past 24hrs?"
