i have been going crazy for the past year trying to get the perfect spot and everything for my salon....It looks like (if we sign the lease) we will be ready to open during the last week of january....Am I missing too much of the season? when is the best/worst month to open. Am I pushing it....I know we will need to work the kinks out, etc... what do you think? Last week of Janjanuary okay??? |
We don't really get busy till february but I would not want to open then. You are gonna have so many kinks to work out..trust me. We opened at the end of Nov. and that was just enough time to get everything ready. |
We start to pick up at Christmas and then really start getting busy in Feb. We opened in May of 2004 so by the time busy season rolled around we were ready. In all honesty, we really didn't have much in the way of kinks to work out. We could have made it happen if we would have opened in January. It will depend on "how ready you are" and how many people you have coming in. You won't know until you try. I am a firm believer that you can make anything happen. A salon that has been in business for a long time can experience "kinks" during busy season...dealing with a computer, and tanning equipment (lamps, acrylics), employees anything can happen Good luck! |
Very true TRTS. With enough thought and planning, it can be done. You're right about the kinks too. They happen to the best of us, but if you are planning ahead you should be able to correct them quickly. Good Luck Tann2, hope you have a great season. |
I think you're opening at nearly an ideal time to capitalize on the upcoming season. But promotion and advertising will be key. Good luck. |
I opened in the end of November and it all worked out for me as well. You should be ok. But like Belvy said, promotion and advertising is the key. Good luck. |
I opened in the summer. No matter when you open there will be issues but you are definately opening at a busy time. You'll start out with a bang! Good luck! |
