Well, it certainly doesn't sound glamourous.

After the major slump in the biz this year, it isn't. Salons are closing left and right and even suppliers are going under. Worst I have seen in 7 yrs. in the biz. It's a fickle business that depends a lot on clients disposable income. When neccessities go up in price they cut out the "luxuries", we are, a "luxury" service in most cases. Don't let a dream cloud your vision.

There are two salons in my city. They are both older salons. One is for sale now, but I don't like the location - not enough traffic/visibility. There is one right across the street from where I would want to open. That's another thing. I feel like it would be a great location, but that kind of sucks having the existing one across the street. I ran into a girlfriend who tans there. She said she only goes there because there is a better place to go around here. I think that I could do a better job, offer a better service, be more professional, cleaner, overall more pleasant, etc.
