Rep Power: 0 | We were going to start with 20 minute laydown 12 min laydown 8 min standup I was told that we should have a 10 minute standup, which will be cheaper for the customer and we can use that with the 20 minute laydown for the monthly packages. We know the worst thing to do is start out with a bad bed layout. Can anyone share their knowledge with us??? THanks |

Rep Power: 25 | You're going to have 3 beds total? Besides how many minutes they run - what are the "characteristics" of the beds you are considering? What manufacturer, how many lamps, what wattage lamps, etc Will you have room to add other beds later? |

Do you think we need an 8 min standup and a 10 min standuup? THey all have facials. IMO you have to base your buying decision on what your comp. has. You have to "outdo" them in the minds of the buying public. As far the vertical unit, 8 min., 10 min.? I don't see the differrence as far as what you charge, unless you are going flat rate rather than per minute. |

Rep Power: 25 | I am concerned that you are still telling me how many "minutes" the beds run - and not the FEATURES that are going to distinguish one level from the other to your customers. In my opinion and experience: 1. I would NEVER have a bed with facials as a Level 1 bed. 2. I would NEVER have 20 minute Level 1 beds (would do 15 minute instead to be able to see more clients/day). 3. I would NEVER have 2 standups in a 9 bed salon (I might not have even one!!). 4. I would NEVER use ETS equipment. Given that, in general, I would probably start with 3-4 32 100W lamp beds with no facials. 15 minutes tan time Then I would have 2-3 "Level 2" beds - at least 32 lamp, and preferably up to 40W. Stronger Wattage canopy (160/170). Probably but not definitely high pressure facial lamps. 12-15 minutes tan time Then I would have 2 "big beds" - 160W lamps, high pressure facials, at least 46 (and preferably up to 50) lamps, maybe some "special features" like shoulder tanners, etc. 10 - 15 minutes tan time IF you had a standup, make sure it can "compete" with at least your Level 2 bed, and maybe your Level 3 (e.g. a Tan America SunUpII with facials). 8-12 minutes tan time Consider a spray booth and/or high pressure if you think your market will support it. |

Rep Power: 25 | p.s. Don't let Neon Beach bother you. He was directing his sarcastic comments at me, not you. For reasons that continue to escape me, he can't stand me, and so feels a need to do this anytime I post. It isn't about you - the rest of us are glad to help! |

THanks for your help..Its tough to know. I have to look over my pricing again. Our 12 min bed has 48 lamps 8 min standup has 56 x 200 watt 20 min has 32 lamps |

Rep Power: 107 | I apologize home beach, sunsally is somewhat correct. She also offers some decent advice, but unfortunately never asks about "your" market and merely assumes that works in her city or town is what should be done everywhere. Here, tanners frown upon beds that are less than 20 mins. in exposure time, possibly get away with 15, but not 10 minutes, I had to convert my 10 minute unit to twenty to get some use out of it. I have an 11 minute Vertical unit that does well, but not so over used that I feel the need to get another. I would really spy on the local competition to see what works rather than rely on info from others that are on the other side of the Country. Keep us informed, and good luck to you!! |
