Rep Power: 0 | I'm a newbie, and I have been searching the website for a thread that describes how salon owners are placing their beds in a level (such as Level 1 or Level 2). Is there a specific general rule of thumb on how to place a bed in a level (bulb count, voltage amount, etc etc)? Any help would be appreciated, thanks! |

Rep Power: 0 | Level 1 32 lamps through 38 lamps usually there are no facials introduced at this level...some salons still have 28 lamps in their base beds...usually they are 100w bulbs Level 2 depends on how many beds...but we have level 2 that has a higher canopy and shorter session time...but some salon owners introduce their beds with facials at this level.... Level 3 once again depending on your salon...but it can range from the first bed w/a facial to a "160w" beds all around....it depends on your salon Level4 in our salon is the 160w all around with 500watt facials or 1000watt facials....its our big VHR bed ... Level5 High Pressure bed .... Level 6 (I would consider it an option not a level) but Sunless spray...I would not open a new salon without it.. |

Rep Power: 0 | The salon I'm opening will be 2256 sq ft. So we plan to build 20 rooms, but I am thinking to start with around 10 beds. What would you suggest. Also, do you have a suggestion on the brand of beds to use? I've had some talks with the guys at ETS, but I'm trying to shop around more and find out pricing and quality. |

Rep Power: 0 | Stay away from ETS, especially!!! I was going to say her name but she is just doing her job. I'm not trying to take any food from her table. If you are looking for good base beds, Tan America is great. |

Rep Power: 0 | Okay....it depends on your market...There are a lot of good bed manufactures out there and it depends on your business plan... How big is your market? How many salons are in your 5 mile radius of your "new location"? What type of beds do your competitiors have in their salon? |

What type of beds do your competitiors have in their salon? We have an elite salon about 10 miles north of where we're located. I have demographics for two towns because the town is split into two sections. The first section of town has: 20,000 0-3 miles 25,000 0-5 miles 26,000 0-7 miles All 96% white (this is the actual town I'll be located in) The second part of town (which is about 2 miles from where I'm located has the same print out on the demo chart I received... So I'm not sure if it's being called the same town or if they both have the same numbers... I received those demographics from ETS as well. There is only 1 salon within a 1-2 mile radius of where my salon will be located, and its been there for a long time and has a bad reputation from my understanding. It's in an old strip mall with only about 1500 sq ft. Our salon will have 2256 sq ft. The elite tanning salon which is 10 miles receives a lot of members from the town I'll be in now, so I feel that we can pull these members back into town and the new would be tanners that would have gone to their salon could start to go to our salon as well. We plan to beat our competition in town by offering better beds, however the average household income is $68,000 in this area. I hope this information helped. |

Rep Power: 20 | This is an area that I feel that most salon owners make their most costly mistakes. Creating levels is a tool for making an up-grade marketing program work. The key for creating the most successful up-grade or multi level program is clear cut wide separation between levels. In reality there are only three true levels of UV tanning. 100 watt, 160/200 watt and high pressure. To make selling up-grades easy and more effective the difference in the performance must be simple for the tanner to establish. The difference in a standard 100 watt system without facials or juiced up lamps and your second level must be very wide. Level one tanning is sold based on value not performance. Level 2 is sold based on performance and functional features. Level three is sold based on performance, technology and size. To create non-existent levels between these three levels makes it difficult to sell up-grades and will always cause some of your equipment to not be used. This is a brief description as to the effect of too many levels. If you would like an in depth explanation please contact me. Equipment are like the tools a mechanic might use. The right tools for the right results is important to the success of your salon. Think about this simple comparison. When you go to a fast food restaurant and place your order and they offer a super size for a little more. 75% of all people will take the super size because of the huge difference in the amount of food and drink they will get, even though they will not be able to drink or eat the entire additional product. The sale was easy because of wide separation between what they get, creating greater value. My Tanning For Profit marketing program teaches you how to be successful and understand successful marketing techniques. |
