Hey,
I am a newbie here and Im still far off from opening a salon.
Id like to get a feel for what kind of business people are doing. I know that theres a million different things that will change this answer for each salon but please let me know anyhow.
About how many people is everyone getting in their salon each day, week, or month on average?
About how many of those tanners are buying merchandise?
About how much is the average sale on merchandise?
Thanks

Im seeing about 100-120 people per day. Thats as good as it gets for me. I dont really have an answer about merchandise, but I will say this..... Everytime a person walks through the door (package or not), the average per tanner is around $8. If you do 100 people, you should have brought in $800. Anything less than $7-8 per person means you need to up prices.

$8 for EVERYTHING. Some people will have packages, some wont, some buy lotion, some dont..... ALL TOGETHER, at the end of the day- you should see an average of $8 per person

Awesome! Thanks for the info.
Can anyone else help me with these numbers?
Also, does anyone have an income statement that I can use for a model? I have my income statement prepared but its hard to be accurate when you dont own the company yet.
Thanks!

I agree with JKonturas, I have had about 100-120 per day with sales between $800-$1400 daily. JK, How many units do you have in your salon?

I think all of you forgot there a concept called BREAKEVEN ANALYSIS. If you do anything, you should calculate the breakeven point for your salon. That is a must. You can have your CPA do this or you can do what I did, order TanPlan from Pointlank Business Technology. It calculates it for you. TanPlan calcualtes your annual and monthly breakeven point including your fixed and variable costs and average price per session. darn I love that product. If anyone is really interested check out http://www.pointblankbusinesstechnology.com.
