Rep Power: 0 | Hello, Since I may be starting my salon during slow season (with backup cash)should I start with a very small amount of beds & then add more when business picks up? How many should I start with? I have room for 10 beds. Is 2 level 1's,2 level 2's & 1 level 3 enough to start out with during slow season? I don't want to add major overhead on my back if nobody would be using the extra 5 beds. Thanks |

If I DID start with only half the beds, would probably keep those rooms shut and not necessarily let everyone KNOW you were starting half empty! That might make them think you were less stable. Just keep the rooms shut, and tell people "we have room 4 available" without noting that room 3 is empty! |

Angelrose -- it will depend HUGELY on the area you are in and what equipment you are using! For example - in TX you may pay for a LOT more airconditioning than someone does in N.Dakota. And a High Pressure bed is going to take a lot more than a base bed --- assuming it is running. Certain parts of the country have MUCH higher electric rates than others. I just saw something on the travel channel that said Lake Placid NY has some of the lowest in the nation because they have their own plant (?) -- who knew?? It isn't outrageous to expect electric bills to EASILY be over $1000/month -- and sometimes 3-4x that amount in the busy season in a warmer climate with a well established clientele (e.g. a "busy" busy season!). Estimate HIGH -- you can always spend less! | |
