Rep Power: 22 | Just opened our new salon last month. A travel agency/tanning just lowered their prices--15 sessions for $25. Another beauty salon with 2 old beds is selling 10 tans for $23. A fitness center is doing the same for $30. We are causing a cut your price frenzy here in town. We expected it and are holding our prices firm at $39.95 for 10 sessions. I could never figure the mentality of salon owners. When the busy season starts they all lower their prices--go figure. We have 1/2 price tans on Sunday and yesterday a young lady comes into our salon. She says she brought a package of 15 for $25. I asked her how many times she has tanned so far. She told me 5 times and she was still pale. Case closed. She got more color tanning just one time at my salon. |

Rep Power: 22 | My main competition is a salon just 2 blocks away. They have been open about 6 years and have Sundash equipment that old. We are 1 month old and have a whole different level of equipment. There are beauty salons, a fitness center, with 5 28 lamp Sundash beds, and a travel agency with 6 very old Sundash beds. These establishments are all within a 3 block area of our salon. We did demographics, but opened anyway. We have almost 500 customers in our data base. Is this considered good, average, or not so good for this time of year? |

Rep Power: 0 | About 9 month ago a salon opened 4 blocks down the road (east of me) using my name plus "Beach" must have taken them minutes to decide. However, we decided a new paintjob, furniture, lotion specials and a computer upgrading would do the deal since we are well known to have great equipment as well as always changing our bulbs even before they actually need it. We also are known for our extremely accommodating and friendly staff. We realized, everyone wants to test drive the new car on the lot, nonetheless, if you have the right stuff, they will in fact come right back to drive yours, old or new. We actually have to tell customers to come back in 2-3 hours since our 10-bed facility is so booked. (Season) Now I see a new (Franchise) opening March 1 several blocks east of them ... surely putting a damper on their business. We already found out the, specials and the lotions they carry.... and we will too. That's business. *Remember, the new guy has "new" bills to pay back. Being an established salon, all my equipment is paid for and I can give those great specials away ... I hope you can to! |
