Hello, Im in the process of opening my first salon, can you please tell me if more people like to buy minutes, like 100 min. $25.00 or do they like to buy unlimited monthly packages. My competition only offers unlimited monthly packages. Also, how many good months are there for tanning out of the year? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!

Ashley123,

I am only in the business a short time, but from what I have learned peak season (at least in my area NJ) is Feb-Jun. July-Sept slow down and it drops off OCT-JAN. I have not seen anyone offer minutes. I only see sessions, like 3,5,8,12, or Month, 3-month, Yearly unlimited. Depending on your equipoment you may have the packages for base beds and have upgrade options for other units.

We have peak season as February - June as well. July to middle January are very slow almost to the point of maybe 10 clients a day. I don't know much about minutes, but quite a few people call and ask pricing for minutes. So they are sold, but we have more luck with packages, i.e. 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year along with Platinum Pass (2 or more buy in for a year and is a set price for any level.) It works well for us. Good Luck! It's Fun!

Thanks so much I really appreciate your advice ! Also , do you know what a 8-10 bed salon could make per year , an average? Do you have to have high pressure beds to make good money? Are there any beds that you can reccomend ? Thanks again!

We use minute pkgs 100 minutes bade bed $25. We also have 50 minute pkg for standup. They have an expiration of 1yr. They do sell. And people go through the minutes in less than a month. 100 minutes seems like alot to some people and by the 1 yr exp. they think it lasts.
