Bought an existing salon......been in the same location for 14 years...well known in the area. Have a client basae of approx. 2000 people.....obviously not all of them tan...for some reason or another.....I would like to get them back and was wondering if mailing a postcard with new specials....under new ownership would be a good way to get these people to start tanning again...also I would like to see new people through the door...the salon has been there awhile and I have noticed that alot of regulars come in and not many new people....how can I get new people in....

Anyway I have lots of ideas but not sure what to start with. Offer free tans to new clients but take good care of my existing... My client database is over 7600, postcards are sounding like a good idea. Especially to the clients who haven't been in for a while (come back special maybe?) Lots of apartment complexes in my area, that's a good place to start. Shopping center discounts? High schools, prom discounts.

I am a marketing guru. I love it. I find a passion in helping others reach success in their business. Are you just a tanning salon or do you offer other services? If you will email me I will get in contact with you and let you know a few things that I think will really explode your business.

I would send them a high quality postcard with an irresistable (sp?) offer to make a great impression of the new owners standards right off the bat. Then follow thru.

I have a similar situation here, I bought an existing business that had a pretty good client base, but I'm finding that not as many as I had hoped are "active". A postcard mailing inviting them back in would be a great place to start! Offer a "welcome back" free tan or discount off a package to get them back in.
Also, I've tried a few advertising methods and here's what did and didn't work for me.
Newspaper - nothing!
Coupon on back of local grocery store receipts - Nothing! (and this was pretty expensive)
Personlly handed out coupons ant local holiday parade (which goes right past my salon) - results - 0
Money mailer direct mailing coupons - ALWAYS work for me - I always get new customers, and sell enough packages to make way more than the cost of the mailer.
Just a little input from a fellow newbie - who could always use NEW customers!

Your database list is the best list you can contact! A postcard is going to be your absolute best option.
