K, sorry for all the questions, but you guys seem to be the only place I can turn for real answers about this industry.

If a tanning bed was bought new for $6400 in 1998, what would its current value be? What is the average lifespan of a bed, and how do you guys account for depreciation of your beds?

second- Is there such a thing as being able to "trade in" older beds?

thanks,

Hansel

Current value depends also on who made the unit and the condition.

Yes, some will take trade ins, but better to sell to a private party for top$$$

With depreciation, it probably has no value, however, depending on the brand it may have a lot of life left in it. If it looks old and dirty it will turn clients off, but if it is clean and presentable it will be just fine. Make sure the lamps are good and the electrical is functioning properly. Or you could go ahead and spend $20,000 for a new one that does the same job, but looks better?
