I have an oppurtunity to buy a salon. IT is in a bad location however and I would be moving it, changing the name and restructuring the packages. It has 4 year old ETS beds,(5 base and 1 stand up) and a database of 2000. I basically want the beds, lotions inventory, database names, etc but not the furnishings, building lease or name. Should I just forget about it and start from scratch in my new location? They want 85k.

No way is that worth 85k Beds are already 5 years old (modelyear) New lotions come out every year. And a 2000 data base
to me is very low. Start from scratch.

I don't think one could get $20,000 for 5 entry level and 1 stand-up for 5 year old beds if they were manufactured by Sontegra. We're talking about 5 year old ETS beds. Lucky to get $500 a piece.

You could start from scratch and buy beds that have been re-po'd or off-lease for a lot less.

Thanks for the info. I also thought it might be a lot easier for me to get a loan for an existing business instead of a start up. The business was opened in 2000.

That may be true, but that's a lot of money for what you want and are planning on keeping. Even tacking on the goodwill, it can't be woth that much.

What everyone has said. It's would be a lot better to find the location you want, good newer beds, fresh lotion and start fresh. If you figure what you paid for the older beds, older lotion, and not counting the stuff you don't want you would be further ahead, starting new. Biggest expense will be the build out and electrical. One thing you should consider if you go the new salon route. Look for a building with good A/C and electical. Once you get it going and advertise, I'm sure some if not most of that 2000 database will come to check you out anyways.
