I am relatively new here to this forum, I like it, but have spent hours on end reading all the posts, however what is with all the avoidance of the #1 Question, I have seen it asked 100 times, various ways all the same...
newbies want to hear from the more experience what they think the best (cheapest) bed is to get started.

Is there a rule here that no prices will be discussed unless your a sales rep for a company??? (seen a lot of company insiders here, you all got a gag order?)

What is with the song and dance... why wont or cant anyone answer or even attempt to answer the question... other than stay away from ETS... we all get that point (perhaps one of their inside sales spies will tell the president to improve quality and service }:-)

Here let me re-ask it again:
Q: What is the best bed to get on a startup
Q: how much can one expect to pay for this bed new & used.
Q: Can you point us in a direction, want the highest quality for limited budget.

AMEN!!! I simply asked for the experienced owners to let us know how THEY did at opening and during the first year. I was NOT asking anyone to predict my individual situation. Let me ask again.

Q How many new customers did YOU get in month 1 (jan)
Q How many new customers did YOU get in month 2 (Feb) and so on.

mrsats: In this business, along with most other things, you get what you pay for. With that said, I would recommend Sontegra beds. Solid bed, great performer and awesome customer service and installation. You can research the different beds (which can be ordered in various colors) at their web site: www.sontegra.com.

TexasTanz: I believe your question was answered by GripMarketing and some others about what to expect during your first year, etc., but if I'm mistaken, let us know and we'll try to help again.

TexasTanz, for us to be able to tell you how many people we had the first month, etc. all varies upon many factors. This will be different for everyone. How much they advertised, how effective their advertising campaign was, their location, their demographics, different states, etc. So for you to compare what your doing to everyone else is like comparing apples and oranges. The best thing I could give you to compare your numbers, rather than clients. A tanning salon may only have 500 people come through that month but ther per person average could be higher than that of a salon having 1000 clients come through. If you really want to know where you stand in this industry base it upon numbers. Through Smart Tan they offer the Standardized Accounting for Tanning Salon Owners and Operators. Contact them and they will send you how to set up your accounting method to be able to compare to actuall numbers set across the country.

As for your questions mrsats, you will get so many different opinions on who makes the best beds. Sunlounge put it best you get what you pay for. Contact different distributors and have them send information. Another way is to go to a convention and see for yourself all the beds set up. It gives you the opportunity to compare and contrast. Also set a budget. What I think is cheap for a bed might be expensive to someone else. We do not know how much your start up is, how many beds you need, etc.

Know your budget and compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each bed. Find out about maintence, customer service, warrenty, etc.

Sunlounge and River_brat, thanks for the response, however, you just proved the point I was
trying to make... nice avoidance of the issue. You get what you paid for? ROFLMFAO

In either response, you both danced right around the question, almost like a salesman when
asked about a Warranty... hehehehehe

here are the questions that were put forth, just for recap:
Here let me re-ask it again:
Q: What is the best bed to get on a startup ............AVOIDED
Q: how much can one expect to pay for this bed new & used......... DEFINATELY AVOIDED
Q: Can you point us in a direction, want the highest quality for limited budget........ try Sontegra beds ,BUT
BIG BUT... noticed there was absolutely NO mention of PRICE.

PLEASE... SOMEONE TELL ME THE TRUTH FOR ONCE... ARE YOU ALL DEALERS AND SALESREPS.
One would think this because if you were salon owners and or users you would be
freely talking up a price storm, sharing who had the best deal, what salesrep gave
the best price and service.

I mean you guys are not even comparing what the last price paid so fellow members
could judge if their rep was giving them a fair shake or if a price on a used bed
is OK. I mean river_brat's sales rep XXX gave him a good deal of $xxx, This would
at least give Texas tan the opportunity to tell his guy, MATCH OR I SWITCH.

I quote.. "you get what you pay for"... ok, WHAT DID YOU PAY AND FOR WHAT?????

I mean if there is an unwritten rule or agreement not to post prices and let the
salesreps and dealers hide as many ADWORDS as possible in their posts... JUST SAYS SO
I would accept this and it would minimize the repeat question.

Low pressure beds (30-32 lamps) Low 5,000s (buy more, and you'll get a better deal.)
VHR beds/Stand-ups (48-60 lamps) 10,000-14,000s)
High Pressure Upper 20,000s to low 30,000s.

That's what I've paid for these units in the past 10 years. I've never bought used.

Would you like me to scan and post the invoices?

FASHION TAN... thanks you for getting this started... that is some real information, and scanning is not required.

what make and model if you dont mind me asking??? enquiring tanners want to know...
the information you provide can be used as
a comparison when any one of us is talking to a sales rep.

just a ps. I came back to read any updates and the advertisement
for the top post was "SALONS UNITE", I found this extremely funny
given the topic in this thread on avoidance.

hehehehehehihihihihihihohohohohohohohoho hoh... the tears of laughter
are a comin!!!!

If the answers here are that irritating to you then why don't you do your own research - dealing with manufacturers and distributors yourself - make your own conclusions and then you can come back and enlighten the rest of us with your findings. Get a price quote - if you feel like you are getting the shaft - don't buy!! Have you ever tanned? Did you like those beds - why not start with that company first. But in the mean time make sure and keep coming back to post your irritation.

Cantanner it appears that my honesty irritates you... I am just saying
and pointing out a fact that I have read hundreds of times... that has
been a constant irritation to a lot of people... Nice avoidance by the way

Do you have any information you would like to contribute to this topic
regarding prices and models that can be used as a comparison?????????

its almost as if their is a fear a salon on the other side of the country will steal your biz... a forum like this is for research, help, understanding and sharing...
SHOW THE LOVE CANTANNER... give up the goodies... tell us what model you have and what you paid... or better yet, tell us what you started with and what you paid for it and what you sold it for and when.

research is about finding information, valuable information from those in the know

mrsats...you definitely can tell you are new to this business and if you're not, then you obviously are extremely bored today!

Let me take exerts from your post and clarify things for you:
"Q: What is the best bed to get on a startup ............AVOIDED" - YOU MUST HAVE MISSED MY RESPONSE THAT SAID "SONTEGRA".

"Q: how much can one expect to pay for this bed new & used......... DEFINATELY AVOIDED" - 2 RESPONSES TO THIS ISSUE: FASHIONTAN GAVE AN ACCURATE QUOTE - LOW 5K FOR BASE BEDS. SECONDLY, YOU SEEM LIKE THE KIND OF PERSON THAT WOULD PULL UP TO A RED LIGHT AND ASK WHAT THAT PERSON PAID FOR THEIR CAR AND IF YOU DIDN'T GET AS GOOD A DEAL, YOU WOULD GRIPE TO THE DEALERSHIP. IF YOU WANT A PINPOINT ANSWER TO SATISFY YOUR PERSISTENT CURIOSITY, THEN HERE....$4718.32 IS WHAT IT'S GOING TO COST YOU FOR A BASE BED. NOW, IF YOU HAVE TO PAY MORE THAN ME, YOU NEED TO CALL THAT SALES REP AND COMPLAIN...IF YOU HAVE TO PAY LESS - YOU'LL PROBABLY STILL COMPLAIN!

"Q: Can you point us in a direction, want the highest quality for limited budget........ try Sontegra beds ,BUT
BIG BUT... noticed there was absolutely NO mention of PRICE." - THERE WAS NO "BUT" IN MY RESPONSE. I GAVE YOU THE WEB ADDRESS...HERE'S THE PHONE NUMBER ALSO: 1-800-826-7727. IF YOU WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO DO YOUR RESEARCH TOO, MY CONSULTATION FEE IS $250 AN HOUR. LET ME KNOW.
-----------------

Knowing this won't satisfy any of your needs - try to have a wonderful day anyway!
