Rep Power: 0 | Texas...you have to understand one thing..this site is full of wanna be's and loosers. They have all the time in the world to sit around and bash others...problem is they must not be doing a very good job running their salons or why would they be so concerned about what you do??? They all know that they can't come close to running a salon as well as a franchise. And by the way we give our customers excellent service...and we know all our customers by name. And by the way...we follow all government regulations which most mom and pops don't....So you figure out who the idiots really are. |

Rep Power: 23 | phlash58, You must have took a couple of those stupidity pills before making those remarks. I started out as a 2 bed store 15 years ago, will be up to 55 next season,Maby you would like to tell me I don't know what the **** I'm doing. I'm also very understanding of how franchises operate. In the long run there no different then a mom and pa, it depends on who's really running the store, If its a poor employee its going to be a poor operation. Your running maby a 16 bed store for somone else. The only thing Planet Beach has going for it is that they use beds instead of booths. That will be Hollywoods down fall. I'm willing to bet that I could walk into anyones franchise at any time and find some violation. Don't be knocking people for trying to make a living, Someday you may be looking for a job. All franchises are the same in one respect,THERE ALL THE SAME. Smalller salons take on a personality of their own,You cant do that. I have 3 different stores and there all different. You may give great customer service at your location, But how about the next location not being run by you? It could be just a bunch of snot nose I don't give a darn kids. If you want to speak for your store fine, I do not think you should even attemp to speak for the entire franchise, because there's know way you could know. And unless you've been in every Mom and pop salon there is you cant speak for them either. Flick |

Rep Power: 0 | Take some of your own medicine TANU01.... not every franchise is the SAME!!! Same process, yes (that is the premise) however, YOUR employees set the tone of your salon AND the Franchisee isn't locked in chains to the point of NO personalization. We understand you have been successful and that is great but ease up on the bashing and think before you type. |

Rep Power: 30 | Anyone searching the country for solid numbers is out of their mind. Case and point. Tantalker JOLEE (sorry again) and I have roughly the same salon setup, same traffic she has and her electric bill is 3-4 TIMES HIGHER THAN MINE. If JOLEE had come on here asking for numbers and got quotes like $2-300/month electric bill she'd be on this board calling me and everyone else F'N HACK ASSES for giving her bum numbers. PLEASE take PHLASH58 advice and become a salon "worker" because that's what he is. A worker for a franchise. Immitation get's you no where. Innovation get's you paid. Wanna be and loosers? From a franchise owner? HEEEE HAAWWWWWWWWWW |

Rep Power: 22 | I’ve tried to stay away from this type of topic but after reading the other post I couldn’t resist! First, Franchises have their place in our economy. You can find a franchise for almost anything. Some of the franchises indeed have their place in the market. I can see the success that would come with a McDonalds or Wendy’s for example. Those franchises have something to offer the franchisee. Name recognition as well as 99% of the product they use. Not to mention a huge amount of national advertising. Yes, they pay for everything they get but they also get the benefit in return. When it comes to a tanning salon franchise I just don’t see the real value long term. What do you really get that will be exclusive to your franchised salon? Better beds? No, you can buy the same thing yourself. Better advertising? No, again you can buy the same local ads yourself. Ok, so you get advice, a logo and maybe a few fancy signs, rugs and towels. Again all you can buy yourself. But what else do you really get for the money? Additional expense as I see it. I agree with the above postings. Buying a tanning salon franchise makes no sense to me at all. As far as it being cheaper to buy a franchise…….I don’t think so! There is no way you would save money by buying a franchise. If you fail, it will be your fault, if you succeed, they will take the credit and your money forever. If I had the money and desire, I’d buy a McDonalds franchise in a heartbeat, but I’d never entertain the idea of buying a tanning salon franchise. I just don’t see the real value in it. Again, franchises have their place, but a tanning franchise seems ridiculous at best. When a tanning franchise begins to offer exclusive beds, lotions and national advertising, the value may indeed shine through, but for now I don’t think it’s money well spent. As far as opinions and a hidden agenda goes, yes that’s true. This is my opinion. My only agenda is to help others out here. No one should take anything they read here as the gospel. Each of us should read and evaluate the information for ourselves. The purpose of a board like this is to share with others what we’ve learned over time. Some will twist the truth and others will down right lie. Who’s lying or purposely giving bad information is anyone’s guess. However, differing opinions is what makes this board a success for all of us. Weigh out the facts and disregard the rest. If you do what any smart business person does you’ll take what you read here and only use it as a guide to your own research. “OPINIONS” That what you get here. You know what they say about opinions. Everybody has one! This has been mine! |
