Rep Power: 0 | OK, totally new to Tanning Biz. I know nodda! LOL. This salon I am at ( I am nail tech)is for sale How do I find out what these beds are really worth? Looks to me, from what I have read on here, these are NOT good beds.7beds with 24 bulbs, which, I am sure haven't been changed in along while. She has 2 of these beds, that have bulbs she say's are not *legal*? Thats the one, that eveyone wants to tan in. Bottom line, she is asking $30,000. for this biz, doesn't sound right to me, but, I would like some feedback on this. Also, how do you get rid of these beds if I do decide to jump in with both feet? LOL TIA Carolinachickie |

Rep Power: 0 | The price is not bad for the whole business. That's about what we paid for 7 sunvision beds (28lamp 2 w/facials) plus the building was really clean and nicely decorated. I would try to sell those beds asap and try to get something with atleast 30 lamps. ETS makes the sunvisons. We are using there Sunstar zx 30. Working well so far but I am interested in 32 lamps which are what both my competitors have. Beds by law are suppose to have bulbs which are approved. Very important that you have the correct lamps. If the location is good I would say try and redeem it with new equipment. |

Rep Power: 0 | Sounds like you need a little more info. How old are the beds and how many hours are on them (get the owner to show you how to get this information off the bed). What all are you getting for $30,000.00 and are you picking up the lease? Remember there is more to a salon than just the beds... for example: furniture, register, manager pro, computer... this all cost money. I have (4) sunvisions in my salon, along with 5 sunstar ZX 32's, 2 sundomes, 1 solaris and just added a ultrasun 17000 HP. The sunvisions work great for those who are on the cheap side - you will find some customers that care more about what they are paying instead of what bed they are getting. But 60% of my customers go for the sunstar ZX 32's and the other 40% is split between the sunvisions and sundomes. The solaris and the ultrasun HP are up grade only beds at my salon. You can always build on your beds as you go - maybe keep 3 of the sunvisions and upgrade the rest. Research and find the beds that work best for you when you decide to get new ones. See if the distributor will take trade-ins and if not, ask what the going price is for the sunvisions (you will need to know the year and the hours). Good Luck with whatever you decide! |

Rep Power: 0 | I just realized the salon you are looking at have the sunvision 24's - those are what I consider home units. You will need to go with commercial beds; like sunvision 28 or up. You can sell the 24's in a local paper or on ebay but I would not use those in a professional salon. ** just a thought: Do research on opening your own salon at a new location and start fresh, you can lease beds and the building and furnish your salon with great deals if you look hard. |

Rep Power: 22 | CC, I have went back and read your question...you are saying there are 7 beds total...if this salon is in NC.Or SC..those beds have to be registered with the state and the lamps have to a compability slip to put lamps in them other than the manufactored lamps. You should ask to see the paper work on the beds and she/he should have a license from the state to even have tanning bed salon. How many clients are active in this salon and how many are in the database? And if 2 of the beds are SV what are the other 5? You can PM me if you would like. I would love to help you get yourself in biz, I love to see people succeed, but it should always be done legally. PS If the beds are all SV, and the are older than 1 year, normally the trade in is less than $1500. _________________ Margaret 316 D Hwy 210 N Spring Lake NC 28390 910-436-7869 www.geocities.com/tanningemporium2003 www.homeinteriors.com/mcbess www.youravon.com/margaretcarroll[ This Message was edited by: TanningEmporium on 2004-01-04 20:08 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | I agree with TanningEmporium.. something doesn't sound right. Take her up on her offer to guide you in the right direction... experience is everything. As far as offering anything for the sunvision 24's - I can buy those brand new for $1800.00 - $2100.00, but I wouldn't use them in a salon (I love ETS beds but I myself would not go with the 24's). I'm still not sure what she is asking $30K for.. |
