We are looking to open a salon and I have talked with ETS at length. My rep is great but I have heard good and bad.

No specifics though. I know that people who like them, really like them. People who don't, really don't like them.

Can someone please give me some input. I will make up my own mind but need an overall opinion. I like them so far, but I don't own a bed yet! Alot of people go off of one bad experience, but I need more than that because everyone is human. All companies have had some problem or another.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

I was, at a time, the biggest basher of ETS beds. My opinion of them has changed. They came out with the Suncsape last year at Nashville. The industry's 1st true 200w bed. Good Performer. I said then, as I do now, ETS will be a strong contender in the years to come. This year at Nashville, they will, from what I hear unveil an HP bed. They are going big against the beds from Europe. The best, and only beds they produce that are worth the money, are the Solaris and up. With all that said, I would not have any. The reasons are personal; I believe in the true German art of engineering and perfection of the beds(uwe/AUVL/Sontegra/Ergo-Soltron). Plus ETS beds are not THAT inexpensive. The Sunscape is going for 27k. I could have a SunGate or Silver Bullet for much less, a Gen-X for even less. Plus, I am assure of the quality I seek. If you are set on American made, consider Heartland. Better quality, lamp choices, looks, and support. Every salon seems to want to open with ETS. Don't be like the salon down the street. Show diversity, and success will come.

Thank you soapking, I will check into the others. I was looking at Ergoline but the rep never returned my calls and that irritated me somewhat. We want to start with 8 beds, doesn't someone besides ETS want the business? Thanks for the info and to anyone else who has some input, I would appreciate it.

Just say no to ETS. I was also in bed with ETS and was ready to cut a check to them. However when you ask them for references of salons in your area that you can go look at they are unable to give you any. After going around my area and looking at a dozen salons every salon owner had a horror story about ETS. And as soapking said there beds are really not that inexpensive. Definitely look at ergoline and uwe. good luck

As for Sun ergoline They have nice beds but customer service is a must. I have been burned from one of their distributers.
Burn me once shame on YOU , Burn me twice shame on ME!
They have lost my respect and business!

I started with ETS beds 4 years ago. Last year I replaced moat of them with Heartland. There is no comparison in the quality of the beds. My ETS beds tanned okay by keeping good lamps and maintenance. When you consider how long they will last you, ETS beds really are not that inexpensive. Plus, I just don't like the way ETS does business. Personal feelings about things I have witnessed. They did do okay on service when I had trouble with a bed and really tried to solve the problem.
Like the others have said....Do some more checking before you sign that dotted line. Can you get to Nashville? If you can, you can see first hand the quality af all the major companies equipment and talk to their reps...just remember they are all trying to sell stuff so they may blow sunshine up your a$$ to get the sale. Talk to other salon owners, look at beds and then evaluate all you have seen and heard....only then should you make a decision. Good Luck! It is hard to wade through all the opinions and information and decide what to do.

Well, we got references from our rep with ETS. Anything I ask and he has it fed ex'd the next day to me. We went to Vegas 2003. I wasn't impressed with a lot of the companies there. Ergoline was the only one that I really liked and then they didn't call back. I will look at Heartland. This is the first time I have heard a lot of people talk about them. Thank you everyone for your opinions.

ergoline is coming out with 4 new bed lines, total of 9new beds..More power than the current C-class beds. But dont expect them to be cheap. Tan America has re-done the whole line. Great looking newer style. Quality and service TOPS!.They may be one you want to call. Go to new website and chk them out. http://www.tanamerica.com

I think you best bet is to try to contact as many owners of ETS units as you can. Personally I don't like the way they do business either. Remember, reps are salesman, and they do what they have to do to make the sale. It's the after sale service that you have to worry about, so getting imput from others that have had to deal with them is a must. Don't be naive and remember some people out there have the gift of gab and "can sell ice cube makers Eskimos". Talk to some veterans and you'll have a great idea which way to go. Good Luck!
