Rep Power: 22 | I had a small area with a tv/vcr and lots of Disney movies. I had a table and chairs with books there too. Parents could only leave their children there if they were old enough to sit quietly and read or watch a movie. I told parents we had no time to babysit them and if they misbehaved, we would shut off mom's bed. Needed the area for other things, but still have the movie option for the kids and we get a few that bring their little ones in and watch a movie while they tan. |

Rep Power: 0 | I don't want to encourage the kids coming in. We do have a few who bring them but we tell them we are not responsible if the kid runs outside. I am not a daycare service. Our waiting area is very small and I need all the space for paying customers. Also, be careful about taking them potty. We refuse. I hate to sound paranoid but we live in a very sue-happy society and I am not willing to take the risk. People come to our salons to relax. It doesn't seem right to have someone else's kid causing turmoil while they are trying to get a few minutes break from their kids. Just my 2 cents worth from a grandma age person. Pam |

Rep Power: 22 | tancrazy, no my insurance didn't go up, but I don't know how they know if you have an area like that or not. I don't recall that being a question I was asked when I got my insurance. I guess I can see where it would be a problem. But, again, the kids are usually a little older. I don't have any little toddlers there. Most are in 1st or 2nd grade and sit in the area which is right by my desk and watch tv. A lot of moms love it too. |

Rep Power: 23 | I personally would never set up an area for kids...I am with Pam I do not want to encourage customers to bring their kids..If there was a place for them then I am sure the number of kids would grow from the amount that I have now...I do not babysit nor does a session cover babysitting expenses So I would much rather them find other means for the kiddies... Rep Power: 0 | JUST CURIOUS DONT YOU THINK THAT THE MAJORITY OF WOMEN WHO TAN ARE IN THE YOUNGER AGE GROUP AND I WOULD JUST GUESS THAT MOST OF THEM HAVE CHILDREN AND NOT ALWAYS SOMEWHERE TO DROP THEM OFF JUST SO THEY CAN GO TANNING ...JUST MY THOUGHTS WHAT IF THE GYM HAD NO CHILD CARE HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE UNABLE TO WORK OUT ? |
