Rep Power: 0 | New building going up; will start with four beds; new to this business. With all products out there how do you determine the mix of items to stock on the shelf. So many brands and different products out there. How do you know what people want? |

Rep Power: 23 | The customer will buy what you promote as long as the price is reasonable for your area and it works! We have bought and sold just about anything under the sun, some worked, some didn't. I will suggest to you, however, that the top names are not the only choices, and many "unknowns" have sold very well for us. It also helps to take the decision-making chore away and offer starter packs for newbies. Month, base-builder lotion, eyewear, and upgrade for one set price moves like hotcakes here. Put it in a bag with your name & logo on it...then when they are ready for lotion again you can discuss bronzers, tingles, etc...move to the next arena of "lotion education" then. Again, name brand is not that important, in our area anyway. Selling what each customer needs is. |

Rep Power: 23 | I would recommend calling the lotion manufacturers and telling them that you are a new salon owner and ask if they could send out some samples of there products for you to try....I did this when I opened and was able to sift through lotions that I did not like........ Try the products yourself...Personally for me I have to believe in the product to sell it... Christina |

Rep Power: 23 | I started with Soakin Up The Rays because it was inexpensive and had "steps" which covered all the bases & helped educate myself and customers on why you use lotions. I added "Designer Skin" next which was and is our #1 seller (Worship, Bi polar & Neurotic Bombshell, etc) Also carry "JA", Cal Tan, Luy Ya Brown. We were going to carry "Hempz" but people stopped in with their discounted bottle from the "beauty supply house". (I too, am a small salon and I can't compete w/ that) I got most of my best info right here on these message boards! Good Luck |

Rep Power: 0 | I would suggest that you select 3 brands to begin with. My experience has been that the more you carry the more confusing it is. Learn all you can about what you carry and you will sell it. If a line doesn't work for you--get rid of it and try something else. Get a good price range like the others have said. You will sell mid-range of what you carry. Our lotions range from $15 - $65. We sell quite a bit in the $35 - $40 level. Good Luck! Pam |

Rep Power: 28 | I have come to the conclusion 3 lines are a bit to much. I am narrowing mine down to 2. Of course there will be a couple of another line that I keep that customers do like and purchase. But my focus is on only 2 this year. |
