Do you need to change out the starters each time you change the Lamps? If not, is there a set time to change them?

I change starters when they stop starting the lamp. I have starters with will over 10,000 hours on them.

I change my starters almost every time but definitely every second time. Ho do you know if it is your bulb or your starter that is not working? I heard that a weak starter could affect the life of your bulb? Not 100% sure on this though.

If the lamp starts, the starter is good. If the lamp just glows at the ends the starter is locked up and needs to be replaced. What is meant by locking up is that the contacts inside the starter remain closed and do not shut off the heating circuit of the lamp. If the heating circuit stays on you can some times burn out the lamp, this is rare. But look at the money, if you have 10, 30 lamp beds and change the lamps and starters 3 times each year. You spend about $450 a year on starters and 95% of the starters would have lasted 5 years. The only person that is getting a good deal is the distributor that sold you the beds and told you to change the starters, and of course he will give you a good deal on starters.
