But after that - having high quality equipment (performance - not necessarily expensive/brand new) and a staff that know how to nurture a "high end" customer is key! Introduce them to the best equipment - from the start. Have staff that are well educated, articulate, and able to maximize relationship selling. |

The high end franchise salons consistently get bad grades for staff being pushy and rude. These customers are ripe for the taking. Give them a decent, clean alternative with helpful pleasant staff, reasonable prices (without gimmicks) and they'll drive right by that fancy salon in the best location, and the $35k beds to your salon. |

I've seen people roll up in the Mercedes and expect a free tan & sample lotion to go with it. They have money because they don't depart with it so easy! I would say #3 & #4 above play a large part in how much money one can make from a client.

Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Attracting "High End" clientele It makes no difference if you tan on the value level equipment or the highest level equipment. Tanners are looking for the best tanning experience and spend money based on what they can afford. The fact remains that the different levels are there to accommodate every type of tanner, based on needs that can change from month to month will determine what type of tanning you can sell your tanners. However it is important that the environment and tanning experience that ever tanner receives is equal except for specific equipment type. If you are a properly trained sales person you will be able to work tanners from level to level based on ability to pay. The value tanner is no less important than the up-grade tanner and if you are a good sales person you can occasionally get any tanner to sometimes upgrade. The question should be how do I insure drawing every tanner in my market. Yes to do that takes all of the things listed above and more. If you expose value tanners to upgrade tanning in the proper way you can get them to up grade. In no way does that diminish the overall experience of the upgrade tanner. 80% of a salons UV tanning sales should come from upgrade sales. The 20% value tanner dollar is equally important and should be considered as much. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Attracting "High End" clientele Good Afternoon All, I am new to this site and would like to learn from those of you that have been here for awhile. I am a former pageant queen, who is well versed in sunless tanning. I am starting a mobile spray tanning business- for those competing pageants, proms, brides, & special events. Can you tell me if you have experience you can share with me if you go mobile? I know that the one benefit that I have going as I begin the process is that I know several pageant directors in the area, I have 3 teenage girls, and am living in a fairly affluent area. However, I am never shy or modest about asking for ideas, suggestions, and wisdom. Kindly, KF |
