Rep Power: 0 | Solutions for mobile tanning during bad weather? I am new to mobile tanning and unfortunately during the bad winter months I do not want to be driving all around my city (and surrounding areas). Unfortunately since I live further north than most from Dec-March, the weather can get pretty wild. I do currently live in an apartment with my boyfriend and although we have an empty room we use for tanning ourselves here, I do not think clients would want to come to an apartment. Can anyone offer me some guidance? |

If you cant be mobile during those months, I would take a break. Maybe find a salon to work out of? rent space? it is part of your business to be mobile. |

I agree you should look around your area for a hair salon or a tanning salon that only offers uv tanning, you can set up your own studio within there salon. I have a Smoothie bar/ Tanning salon here and we rent a room out to an airbrush tech.... we have it set up to where we just get 20% off her sales to go towards her space rent.... winter months during the slow season its less but during the summer months while she is busy it is more it all works out good for the salon owner anyway....esp if they have the space they will be stoked to make some extra money during there slow months too.... plus you can market to all their customers..... offer employees at the hair salon or tanning salon free airbrush tans to talk up airbrush tanning for you and get referrals! |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: Solutions for mobile tanning during bad weather? You have an aversion to driving in bad weather but you would expect your clients to drive to you? I, personally, would drive in the winter. I'm from the north, and we all have to drive to work in the snow. :) I'm sure customers would understand cancellations in emergency conditions. Get some good tires. I agree with the above though... best to find a space to rent. If you do rent, I would do it year-round to maintain presence and marketing leads. You can still offer mobile, you'll just have to figure out the scheduling logistics. Unless you live in Rio Linda (or Iowa), I'm pretty sure you would lose some customers with higher expectations if you have them come to your apartment. |
