Rep Power: 0 | How does everyone categorize their levels Just curious to know how everyone categorizes their levels. We have a salon with levels 1-4 right now, but we have upgraded our level 2 equipment to the point where we are underselling it just so we can have level 2 equipment. Right now we're offering Cayenne's, and sun capsule supersonics for level 2 just to steal business. Other local salons take their equipment and categorize it as the level 1-7 which. I keep having to explain to customers that I've never heard of level 6 & level 7 beds, but apparently this salon is succeeding in the smoke & mirrors game by making others believe they are getting to use better equipment than other salons... If I can structure my pricing plans to not go by level numbers it will be easier for me to explain to my customers my top packages vs. my entry level packages without saying "my level 4 is equal to his level 7" ROTFL..... |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: How does everyone categorize their levels do yourself a favor and stay away from "levels" for the very reason you have posted above. People just say level 100000 on a junk bed and you are the jerk for only having level 9999. Go with coach, business, first class or something along those lines. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: How does everyone categorize their levels I agree with trying to move away from levels, but I have a salon nearby that is already using the traditional Silver, Gold, Platinum & Diamond categories. I guess I'm hoping for better ideas on classifying and categorizing vs. 1,2,3, & 4 without appearing to copy this other salon. |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: How does everyone categorize their levels I've experimented with several different conventions. When I bought the salon, it was level 1, level 2 ... level 5. I hated that because hartards would constantly come in asking something like what engfant said. I then went to name them by session max time. 20 minute, 15 minute, 12 minute... However, employees were lazy and still referred to them as "levels" to the customers. I decided to refer to them by their bed names, which employees were somewhat used to anyway since that's how I always referred to them when talking to them. Beds like our Solaris or StarPower were easy, but for the "Tan America 3200" and "Tan America 4200" I came up with names that matches our Egyptian theme like Cairo, Tivali, Memphis, etc. Employees and customers didn't seem to get/dig those names. Right now I'm using simply Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gold Plus and Platinum to describe our beds. It seems less likely to be compared to our competition, doesn't use the dreaded "L" word, conveys an increase in the beds, and my employees appear to be successfully wrapping their brains around the concept. "My last lotion had eleventy-billion-XXX bronzers... Do you have anything like that?" |
