Christmas Special ideas?

What do you guys do for Christmas specials/gift certificate sales? We usually offer some pretty low priced lotion gift sets (usually close out products or leftover). If you buy a gift certificate you can add on a gift bag for a cheaper price than they are offered to regular customers, just to try to get an add on sale. We have done this for at least 5 years now and it does pretty well, but we are looking for some new ideas and ways to sell gift certificates. Any thoughts?

We are trying "25 days of Christmas !"

Basically with 25 shopping days till Christmas, 25% off everything. 24 shopping days, 24% etc. all the way down to Dec 24th with 2% off. We hope this encourages Dads/Husbands/boyfriends to get those gift certs early and bring in $ for us early in the season.

we are just running a "tan in any bed for $99" right now but i like the ideas yall have so far! Might try the 25 days of xmas next!

I'm thinking of a December special " buy 1 month , get 2 months free. The college kids are gone for month, so basically I'd be giving them 1 month free. That free month will get them to about 3 weeks before spring break. After that no more specials--full price.

I guess i've really fallen into that trap of intending to not run that many specials, protect integrity of price structure but then you see "everyone else" discounting like crazy & i jump in......

I still really just focus mostly on us & strive to get better & better, stay super clean etc. etc, but it's difficult to not discount in this tough economy.
We've tried the "add cash value" to GC purchases & found i sell just as much w/o that. We do put out a LARGE BANNER saying " gift certificates avalable for the holidays" right around mid November.

I think we'll continue to promote heavily on FB & show restraint as far as in store specials.

We don't do great with "holiday" specials. I've tried pairing items up in a gift bag, with a gift certificate, I've tried added value to gift certificates.....nothing was really a BIG hit. We do a coupon in our monthly E-mails, and I do black Friday specials....haven't thought a lot about Christmas specials. Hmm.....

Wow parrot that is a really good deal. I wont run anything like that, we pull in most of our cash the 1st month of the semester so letting them go till March would kill us. We don't do specials often, only toward the end of semesters. We were thinking of doing a buy a gift cert for $45 or more (that would cover a montly package) and get a free bottle of lotion (our cheaper $16 bottles). I thought as a gift it'd be nice to get something real like lotion plus the gift cert. I do like Spend $25 get $30 type ideas though too.
