2010 Season Kick Off - tanTALK

We had never sold a week of tanning until last year- went well.

I was not going to start it back up until end of Feb beg of March.

However, my comp starts a $1.50 base beds and 1/2 off all other singles deal at the end of Jan each year.

I was going to start my week ($15- base beds) back up early to compete with their offer. Competitive enough or do you think something else would work better. I will not match their price.

well 1st decide if you need to compete with that
do u think you will loose customers over it
do u want the customers that are only spending $1.50
will you actually make money or loose money if you do a special

i prefer crazy specials like that during peak season only, so u can count on good results

things that could counter that
7 days $7 (base beds, push upgrades)
10 days $10
your week at $15
buy 1 get 1 free singles (any level)
$3 level 2 (twice the price twice the power twice the results compared 2 your comp)

i run my week year round!

I would not go as low as my comp that's why I was thinking to put my week back in place.

Each year a few (not a huge amount) people tell me they ventured over there because they could not pass it up. Then they come back here, I'm not complaining about that. I just wish I could avoid them giving the comp the money in the first place.

maybe honor it for regulars only....i dont think id do anything. i never acknowledge my comps specials especially if they are only a few dollars for a few tans.

a salon in my area does 3 tans $5 for 1st time customers, when im asked to match that i just say sorry i cant all my machines have new lamps and you cant afford new lamps when u charge those prices...:)
