Parent Weekend - tanTALK

Hey just looking for ideas I am in a college area and late next month they are having parents weekend and other things in the area and I was looking for ideas to bring the people in and the parents to make purchases while they are here visiting. Any ideas?? What do you think about giving out Free Tan Coupons??Any ideas please help me out!!

NO! Don't give free tan coupons!!! Why would you do that? If that are visiting they will come for the free tan and thats it. Besides, with the state of the industry these days, why devalue tanning a little more?

Agreed, make them buy something first. How bout ... buy 2 get 1 free. Parent uses one, gives one to the student. Parent goes home; student has a tan left, may as well use it. When they come in, hit them with something else (week?) and (re)start the repeat business. Maybe?

I see parent weekends a little different. Usually parents are in town to see their kids for 1 day and not going to bother to tan. It is a good time to market gift certificates, maybe do $25 for only $20 (I dont know off the top of my head and dont feel like thinking this early). We are a college salon and don't ever see parents in there, just the occasional local. Parents have only ever stopped by to buy up gift certs because they know their kids love to tan here. Christmas, BDays, and even to fill up easter baskets.

I have college locations as well. I don't think in terms of both parents on Parents weekend. I think of Mom. Dad needs to put together stuff and get the oil changed. NOW MOM....she needs to have a nice day with her daughter.

Work with a restaurant and a nail salon. Combine with them for an ad in the student paper. Split it 3 ways.

A day of pampering. 1/2 off tans, discount on nails, and 2 for 1 lunch special. Make an afternoon of it.

I have found ZERO boys who have brought dad in to tan so I think I wouldn't target them

I would do a two for one special for room mates. If you call the college you can donate something like little bottle of sunscreen and include a coupon witht it. They give out these welcome packages during orientation.
