Rep Power: 46 | know your market, salon & client Theres lots of ideas, theorys, specials, opinions, probably even some BS on this site as to when to advertise, how to advertise, where to advertise, etc But truth be told if you dont know your salon and your market..mainly your client type, your peak and your slow season then none of what you read will help much. Dont go searching for specials that work for other salons...design one that targets your client or pick one you heard works and possibly modify to fit your salon this website is made up of so many different types of salon and so many differnet markets..that 1 cant simply take what works for 1 salon and apply it to their own. it is best to closly track your salons traffic and money flow...then once you discover which months need improvement start modifying things that have worked for others from this site to fit your salon and needs now you will quickly learn there are some months that simply sux..even if you can improve it.. it still suxs compared to others... what you do then is plan for that month ahead of time. by plan i mean run specials to generate as much income as possible before that crappy month comes....get bills paid...dont buy what u dont need...cut operating hours..cut staff hours...etc run specials that keep people tanning in your salon during those suxy months..crazy specials work best for me in june( buy 3 month get 1 free type stuff) most people who buy a 3 month package that you discounted in june or july wont even come tan towards the end of the package..(aug sept) but they are coming so frequent at 1st they beleive themselves that they will..most dont giving buy 1 month get 1 free or 1/2 price tans or free tan days in off peak season will cost you money..trust the pros here most of the sites top posters and moderators have been around for a while! bottom line is wheater it be peak or off peak season...you need to know your salon and your clients spending habits like the back of your hand....GET AT IT AND GOOD LUCK!~ If you dont agree with my post read paragraph 1 again.....LOL

Re: know your market, salon & client Great reminder. I apply 2% of another persons marketing advice and the other 98% comes from me because my demographics, location, and local culture are not the same as everyone else and we have to adapt to the style that works best here. A lot is also driven by the local market and competition as well. | |
