Our fall special is buy one month, get another month at half price. We're obviously at a slow time of the year, and people aren't as inclined to purchase our unlimited months at this point. This special encourages them to go ahead and prepay for that 2nd month (hopefully) before they decide to quit for a few months. I do require that both packages be used by the same person (not like 1 month for one person and the 1/2 price one for a friend), and they must both be used by December 31st (so, they'd have to start by Nov. 1). That way, they're not using their cheap packages in our beds during our peak tanning season. I start this special Sept. 1.

Good advice! As a new salon owner, I realize customers NEVER want to pay full price for sessions. Think I probably have too many specials!

I also realize my immediate payoff is higher on lotions, so one of the specials I run is I will offer a week or more of unlimited tanning with purchase of certain lotions. That way, the sessions are up in a reasonable amount of time, but the customer still feels like they got something "extra special" when they bought the lotion.

In an effort to move our bottom selling lotions for 2009. I put them on display Friday and am selling them at regular price but they get 100 upgrade minutes at the next level of tanning with purchase.

POOF!! Had 15 (bottles were $70.00) and as of today I have 8 left. People just LOVE a gift with purchase and I LOVE selling bottles at retail.

Anything helps.

We offer what we call end of year special. It starts Sep. 1st and for the price of 2 months of tanning they can tan till the end of the year or 12-31. The sooner they buy it the more benefit they get as everybody's package runs out at the same time. We have people that have sessions left that buy it and use those instead and save previously purchased sessions. Generates extra revenue from people that other wise would not have bought anything. We then allow them and or suggest to use the full sessions they have to upgrade to the upper levels to get them to try the beds when we are not as busy and many will buy next package in higher level beds. After Nov 1st we go to like monthly price plus $10 more for the second month to get people too late to get much benefit into buying the package. People really like it and generates good cash flow in down months.

plus when these packages are sold i know my employees are doing their job...selling. theses upsells are not advertised anywhere except behind the desk

We have an intro eft that is tan the rest of 2010 for $9.99 a month, then after the first of the year it goes to $18.88. It helps retain some efts that may be getting ready to cancel as well as some new ones. We have 9 new ones so far.

We started our tell your friends how you GLOW referral program and contest. Basically on facebook suggesting friends and who ever suggested the most won a bottle of lotion we had. I have gained many new clients from that, on who spent $152 yesterday.

We are starting to look at Twitter more since myspace is fading and have a contest going that we will draw at random.

Then our CAD is in september, that usually when things start to pick back up for us. Kids are back in school so parents are able to tan again.

I must say we are only a few months into our spray tanning biz. We have all repeats but no biz. We are the the first ones in the area doing this and it's new. We have a great salon and great products. I just have to get more people in the doors. Please help if you have any ideas.

Are there any modeling or beauty pagents in your area? I am giving pagent girls a deal on their spray tans.I also had a table at a bridal faire and was able to book some wedding parties. If you are near a college get in with the sororities They are always having events where they need quick tans.

How do you know who referred who?
