how do tan extenders/step 3 work?

how is it that well moisturised skin doesn't lose the tan as fast as non-moisturised skin? The speed at which the skin cells naturally slough off can't change THAT much, based on a little lotion, can it?
And the melanocytes surely don't disappear just because I didn't add that thin layer of oil every night?

thanks for taking the time to read this post :)

The more moisturized the skin is, the deeper/easier the UV can penetrate. Dry skin gets thick and is harder for the UV to penetrate.

Re: how do tan extenders/step 3 work?

Yes, it can help that much. Dry skin flakes off at a faster rate. Also, dry skin is more susceptible to damage and in turn need for repair = more skin cells get generated and sacrificed.

Also, moist skin seems to tan "deeper". That is that more UV can penetrate deeper into the skin resulting in more tanning reaction.

And you not adding a thin layer of oil, your adding an ABSORBING moisturizer. This is important as tanning does dry out the skin (read above).

edit: Sorry for repeating above, got busy and walked away before hitting "post".

As was I!

I myself MUST moisturize after avery shower. If I dont I feel "weird". Once you get in the habit, you appreciate the benefits.
