Cool new guy to tanning

so i finally gave tanning a try today after my wife has been hinting at me doing it for a while. what kind of lotion should i start out with? are there any that are fragrance free? or with very little scent?? What about hair, i dont want anything that will make my all matted down or feel greasy. Any suggestions? or am i being too picky?

Thanks

Not too picky, but most have a scent of some kind. Is there a reason you don't want a scent or just dont want a girly scent? There are plenty to choose from but what does your salon offer? If you ask them, they will be more than willing to help (or at least they should be). I personally like to try a variety. Are you looking for help getting a tan or do you want something w/ bronzers to help give color too? I like to use a bronzer lotion and also switch up once in a while with a non bronzer. Also what are you willing to spend? There is a difference in a $20 lotion and a $100 lotion, but personally I feel that you can find ones for $75 that are just as good as a $100 one.

thanks RC, I dont really want the girly scent... i guess i'll have to the the bronzer vs. non bronzer to see what happens. I really just looking to even out the farmers tan i get so i dont look like a ghost when i take my shirt off. 75-100 might be out of my price range just starting. i dont know what the salon carrys, i was only in there once so far and really didnt have time to look.

Ah, Farmers tan. Seperate from being a salon owner (only bought it a few months ago which I am not in as much as my wife), I do emergency management work. When I am working, I am working 7 days a week, 15 hrs a day for like 2+ months straight and it is all outside. I end up with a nice looking farmers tan myself. I like using a bronzer. That helps give a quicker appearance of evening myself out. Once it evens out more then I switch up. Everyone has a favorite lotion and I'm sure you'll get some opinions shortly. I've read Fiji Suede is popular popular with guys (I don't have Fiji so I have not tried it), Also Designer Skin Tao (I did try this an it was not bad at all), both in the $50 range. Most what I normally use is probably more than you want to spend but I'd go with a bronzer to start, if you are unsure try a few packets of some different ones.

Re: new guy to tanning

If you are real fair and still starting out, I would not suggest a bronzer-- if you do not have any base the result could be a weird color.

AG Naturally Dark is fragrance free- hypoallergenic and retails in the $40 range. If you just want something basic, nothing fancy, I'd suggest trying it out.

If you wanted to go with a bronzer, I'd recommend DS Shine (retails in the $50 range). It's popular with my male customers. Manly scent. It contains natural bronzers, which are more forgiving to those that have a hard time applying lotions evenly. Dha bronzers can be messy if they are not applied evenly. DS, in general, has lighter bronzers so if you are set on a bronzer, I'd try them out.

To help get rid of your farmer's tan-- apply your lotion to just the whiter areas for a few sessions to help even it out. From there on out, apply lotion all over.

Hope that helps.
