Agreed. I have purchased lotions online in the past and compared them to salon bought lotions and NEVER had a problem or doubt in my mind that it was exactly the same.

Re: Where to buy lotions?

theexoticfish, if they are selling lotions illegally how do you consider them reputable?

just to give you some insight of what you might be missing while you think you're saving money. if a customer buys their lotion from us we might toss some unadvertised specials their way.... you would never know about it though. we don't offer them to customers that take their business online. we do however spoil our good customers whenever possible. it's not much of an issue at our salon, we don't make most of our money off of lotion and never planned it that way... we also mostly sell tanology and mr international luxurious lotions you can't find at five and dime shops online. :)

Re: Where to buy lotions?

If selling lotion online was illegal then the lotion companies would put a stop to it obviously. There's nothing wrong with someone buying lotion from the same place you do and only selling them for a few dollars more than cost. Salons mark up their lotions quite a bit and you know it. Don't attack me about this. I only said in the past I had purchased lotions online and compared them to "salon purchased" products and they were EXACTLY the same thing. No old smell, exactly the same color, consistency, and results.

I know how the salon business works, trust me. Just because I signed up here within the past week does not make me clueless. I got special prices when I purchased from my friends salon, as did all her other customers.

I'm not trying to be rude, just don't attack someone for saying they compared online lotions to "salon purchased" lotions.

Once again, to make sure we're clear here. Now I order my lotion from the same supplier a local tanning salon owner does!

Re: Where to buy lotions?

If I have a salon and have some lotions I can't seen to sell, putting them on Ebay would be a bad thing? I've paid for them and I don't want to toss them. Seems like Ebay would be the next logical step? Just wondering since I can see that being a legitimate way to sell online.

Re: Where to buy lotions?

It is legitimate. There is nothing illegal about selling tanning lotion on eBay. What types of lotions are they that you cannot sell ?

So what you are saying is I should order all my salt water fish and coral for my tank I am getting (500 gallon) online versus my local fish store that specializes in salt water aquariums? Sure things like heat may kill them in shipping, just like heat kills lotion, but hey, its cheaper and if my local family run store of 30+ years of business wants ME to spend money there they had BETTER sell to me "a couple bucks" above cost.

Pretty much all. Read the fine print. Lotions fall under cosmetics and are therefore protected by patent laws. Read the fine print.

Re: Where to buy lotions?

Fish/Coral/Live rock is shipped all the time, every single day. Go for it. I have purchased fish from people I know and had them shipped to me as do many many others. A lot of the fish I own cannot be purchased locally so I had to get them somewhere else. Don't try to compare buying fish online, to lotions.
