Re: Lotions deactivate?

I had one that was putting on the tanning lotion AFTER her session!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Since she was another one that came from another salon, I made the mistake in thinking she was taught how to do those kind of things! LOL

Re: Lotions deactivate?

Eventually lotion will be absorbed into your body. no idea how long that would take, probably a lot longer than 20 minutes.

i had a simlar experiance .. woman comes in shes very very very very pale .. wants to tan before she goes to the beach this summer .. ok no problem we need to start slow and work your way up i tell her .. day 1 she goes into a 20 min bed for 4 min .. ( she said she burns extreamly easy ) she did great no burn .. day 2 she gets brave and goes for 8 min .. did wonderful .. but called 1 hour later and complained that she has the right to go 20 minutes ... so she comes in today .. agreeing with me that 20 min might be to much for her at this stage .. and so she goes 15 !!!! she comes out and says i am getting nothing from your beds .. i go thru the lotion talk and she pulls out a SPF 55 .. and i'm like no wonder .. your NOT getting anything !!! you cant use that and expect to get tan .. she replys with " well it worked in CANCUN " ..... i thought i was gonna lose it !!! after i explain how the sun works compaired to a tanning bed .. she says .. so maybe it would be better to go back to 4 min with an accelerator ? i was like .. uh huh :)

Re: Lotions deactivate?

I would ask your salon for an extra minute or 2.

Personally, when I get ready to tan I spend about 4 min putting on lotion (I'm pretty particular about coverage and putting on a good amount), getting my goggles placed, and putting on my fingertips and covering my hair. It certainly does take longer than a couple min!!

I don't think it hurts to put on lotion at home before going tanning. I think it depends on a few things, though. 1.) how long the drive to tan is....
If it's more than 15 minutes I wouldn't put on my lotion before leaving. 2.) I wouldn't apply a bronzer (cosmetic OR DHA) at home before tanning. Risk getting it on clothing and not allowing it to abosorb/dry for long enough.,

Re: Lotions deactivate?

Sounds like another sign invention! "Don't know how to tan? ASK US!"
