Got some sneak peaks at 2006 Lotion Lines

I have gotten a few first looks at the new lines for 2006! I would have to say everything is more colorful and vibrant. I am so glad more lotion companies are steering away from plain old brown bottles. The other real exciting thing is the GWP's seem to get better every year. I have seen products that have like 3 seperate GWP's.

Any question why retail prices of indoor tanning products has skyrocketed with all the fancy packaging and Gift with purchase?

Does fancy packaging, free gifts with purchase, spiffs for distributor telemarketers, rebates, co-op advertising and other gimmicks improve the quality and performance of lotion or just increase the cost beyond many tanners ability to pay?

My customers don't seem to care at all about the GWP. They want what works best.

Some of the GWP are ok but some are junk and my customers would rather pay a few bucks less for the lotion and skip the GWP unless it is really nice..but a mirror or a face mask or a toe ring don't really excite anyone. Most end up in the trash as do the fancy wood, velvet or holographic boxes that one manufacturer uses.

Yeah, it's supposed to be better than the Japanese white tea extract harvested from the white tea trees on the slopes of Mount Fuji in the second week of the year of the Monkey. I understand from my poacher buddies, that it can only be harvested from the pregnant White Rhino on the plains of the Serenghetti just before the rainy season ends to ensure maximum potency. Iguess it's pretty hard to get. Have to be real quiet. Should be able to fetch a pretty penny for that stuff, eh?

Me personally I prefer GWP. I honestly do not buy cosemetics unless there is a GWP along with it. I think some GWP's are kinda dumb. Others can be strategic and help you increase your bottom line. For instance an add on sell item that you carry being attached as a GWP will increase the chance of a customer purchasing an item they might of otherwise never tried.

For instance I buy a certain line of cosmetics. Last time I was in there they gave me three samples of their newest products with my purchase. I tried one of the samples that same day. It was a facial scrub. I was so impressed with the item that I went back the next day and bought a full size of the product.
How does that not help you as a salon owner. For instance what if you sold teeth whitener. Customers are a bit intimidated about paying for something they are not sure about. Well what if one of the GWP with their lotion was the teeth whitener. Now they can try it. And if they get great results they are going to come back to you and buy that item. Or moisturizer, or Step 2 Lotion, or legs product. The possibilities are vast!

GWP however with the company I deal with (DS) is usually a stupid bracelet, cracked mirror or perhaps a queer yin/yang necklace... Not really a selling point.
