I just started tanning and I've only been two times. I had freckles on my face, sholders, and some on my arms. Now that I started tanning, the freckles are practically covering my face. I know I can't prevent it since I am tanning and I want my face to match the rest of my body. Will my freckles begin to blend in once I start to darken?

I'm no expert on freckles, but I don't think there is a thing you can do about the freckles "popping" out, I have customers that complain of freckles and they just have to cover their face to keep the freckles from really coming out. Then they will use a self tanner on their face to match the rest of their body.

Freckles are nothing more than clusters of melanin where it doesn't spread out evenly. The more you tan, the more melanin you create, and the more it clusters on some people. So there's really no way to tan your face and avoid freckles unless you go for sunless.
I say embrace the freckles...it works for me! And my dear boyfriend thinks they're cute. |

Freckles are small brownish spots of melanin on human skin in people of fair complexion, predominantly found on the face. Predisposition to freckles is genetic, though exposure to sunlight is a factor in how many appear. The gene for freckling is related to the presence of red hair. Melanin is a pigment that affects skin, eye, and hair colour in humans and other mammals. It is produced by melanocytes, which are found in the bottom layer of the skin's epidermis. Some individual animals and humans have no or very little melanin in their bodies, which is a condition known as albinism. Melanin helps protect the skin from damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Most people's skin darkens when exposed to UV light, giving them more protection when it is needed.
