I just spent a few hours going through the posts and I gotta say- Who knew?!? LOL! My mind's abuzz with tons of information and new questions!
I'm medium complected and I tanned off and on in a bed (20 min) using Swedish Beauty's SINFUL for the last year, but since I bought a house with a pool, I've just started laying out and using the SINFUL or BOMBSHELL by Designer Skin. My questions are these: 1. The blotchiness has always disappeared after an hour or so, and isn't a factor when I have the luxury of simply going in the house for a few hours. Although I don't mind the tingle in these at all (I actually like it now!), what- aside from the physical sensation and redness- is it doing? 2. I'm looking for a lotion with the most natural color -with the best bronzers - with or without the tingle- that's best for outdoor tanning. If anyone else tans outdoors while only occasionally going to the beds during the summer months (Eep! Is that blasphemy around here? It's a matter of convenience and saving some money! I'll go back in the Fall, I promise! ), what do you use for the darkest tan? Thanks for sharing your knowledge! |

Margaret-
I'm not trying to aggitate you, and I do want something with an SPF... but I was also under the impression that tanning in a bed was more harmful than outdoor tanning. Tell me what I don't know, please. As someone relatively new to tanning, I'd appreciate the information. Darla |

Hey speed girl. True story. Have a 70+ year old sun bather that has NEVER used sun screen except on the tip of her nose. She went for a check up and had a tiny bump on her nose. Got it checked out just cuz and what do you know? The ONLY place she has EVER USED SUNSCREEN CAME UP CANCEROUS.

Gottaknow spamming Breeze again. It that not bias for a moderator. Let me spam Stylz Jamaican. It is a far better bronzer that will not turn to water any time soon. I know that will get Gottaknow typing!
Tag your it. Just havin fun. Liz Telling it the way it iz! |

Go speed girl, try using one of California Tans outdoor tanning lotions. They have some with SPF and bronzer. I personally love the spf 6 dry oil! It is awesome.
The tingle factor you addressed in your post, other than just causing a reddening sensation and tingle, what it does is stimulate the skin to increase the microcirculation. When you bring more blood to the level of the skin, it brings more oxygen. You need oxygen to develope a tan. So more oxygen the greater the tan. If you are using a tingle, do not put it on your face. I still say you need an spf, there are so many factors. TanningEmporium gave you a great website, check it out, it should answer most of your questions. |
