I was wondering what people feel about carrying one, two, or several different kinds of lotions. Specifically different companies. My feeling is have one main line (know it well etc) and offer maybe one other line???

Thanks

I believe in making my clients happy. If I was exclusive to one lotion line and a valued client requested another brand, I would special order it for them thru my distributor. But some manufacturers offer really good deals to their exclusive or VIP salons.

When carying only one line, it is hard to please the wide range of clientel that walk into your salon. Sure, one line may offer tingle, no tingle, bronzer, and no bronzer, but a single line is going to have a fairly consistant price range. What I would consider doing is only maybe doing ETS products (austrailian gold, swedish beauty, caribbean gold) or CT (California Tan, Matahari, Emerald Bay) but I would stay away from one line. You will find that your customer will applaude a good selection.

California Tan considers their products "One Line" with 3 Brands... I personally think specializing like this is a good idea. It makes it easy to educate your employees and your customers.. You still have lots of options... We currently only carry 3 lines w/ the "Cal Tan" 3 brands counting as 1, Designer Skin & Formulated Solutions.

I carry several different lines. Not all of their products, just the ones we have found that really work, and the ones clients have asked for. If a clients wants a specific brand I will order it if they prepay for it.

Piecowye i use that same idea. I carry Cal Tan as my main line and I am now trying Designer Skin. This method works really well for me.

I also leave the option to order anything for my clients. If i have a client using something i don't carry i will do my best to provide for them. You have to be aware of what you cleints are using and why.

As a customer, I also agree that salon owners should carry different lines. That way customers can do some "shopping".
