I need your help! I have recently begun tanning. I have been going for about 1 month now at a frequency of twice a week. I have gone up from 8 minutes to 10 to 12 minutes currently each time I go. I have not started with lotion yet because the lady who works there said I should get up to 15 first before using lotion.. Is this information correct or not?? Also, what lotion should I start out with?? I have fairly fair skin( I am half northern Italian and part Welsh, English, Swedish, and Danish). However, I have been tanning surprisingly quickly because normally when I am outside I burn badly, but not in the tanning bed! Also, what type of moisturizer is best? Thats all my questions.. Any suggestions or recommendations would greatly be appreciated!!:)
-Andrea

You should use a lotion every time you tan. For just starting out you want a product that will help you get a good base tan. Depending on what kind of lotion you want bronzer, tingle, non-tingle I believe these are the best
* tingle-mango flambe by john abate
* non-tingle- super dark by hoss sauce
* Bronzer- Bronzer by John abate

Remeber to mositurize ! Moisturized skin tans better and looks healthier. A good lotion I use is called heliothearpy (spell check) by california tan. If your salon does not carry this Im sure he/she would be happy to order it for you.

Andrea: Maybe I can try to help you find a lotion that you fits your needs..
Babybunz is correct you should use a lotion when you tan, and an SPF when you are outside.

Let me ask you a few questions?
Is your skin normal? Dry? Do you like a scent? If so what kind?

You are correct you need to mositurize each and everyday.

What product line is available to you at the salon you are tanning?

Lets get you a tan!!
Chris

ALWAYS use a tanning lotion, moisturize after shower, and drink more water. Exfoliate every week or so to remove dead skin. While building a tan, schedule your sessions every other day, increasing by 2 minutes each time.

Maximum Hydration Tingling Body Wash and Moisturizing Lotion by Nutralabs (Glimra) are excellent products for home use, as well as their tanning lotions. Avoid bar soaps. [ This Message was edited by: Tamar on 2002-04-09 21:58 ]

I'm contemplating ordering the John Abate melaplus online becuase they didn't have many choices or reasonable prices in the salon and since she never really pushed me to use anyhing I figure I'd ask the experts instead.. They don't sell John Abate at all.. Alls I remember them having was Smoke(Supre), Power Tan, Austrailian Gold, and Borwn Sugar. Anyone else have any suggestions?? If not, then the all in one moisturizer seems like its the way I should go for me..

Nope, no fight here, MButt. I'd like to let you explain this time around. Start out with the mindset that XX number of lotion purchases could pay YOUR wages for XX amount of hours working at the salon of your choice...

Pick a salon in Anywhere, USA.

I have decided instead to buy austrailian gold accelerator at my salon I go to. However, they have one moisturizer available to buy and I see people bringing in other types of moisturizers.. Where should I get that?

OK, today I went to my salon and purchased their Austrailian Gold Accelerator. The lady there said it will only be good until I get a really good base tan and then I will have to get something else.. Is she correct about this?? Also, any help with moisturizer for me?? Thanks..
