customer used an spf and said she didnt get tanned

I had 2 new customers come in yesterday morning to tan, asked them if they needed any lotion, they told me they already had some on, asked them what kind they had on, they said they didnt know.
Well today I recieved a phone call from them saying they didnt recieve a tan, what could I do for them. In other words she wanted a free tan... Well I asked her what kind of lotion she used, she told me it was an australian gold product with an spf 30, well I told her of course you wont get any color with that on especially in an entry level bed. She told me she uses it all the time when she spends the whole day at the beach.
Well duh !!! Then she told me if I dont give her a discount she will tell all her friends not to come to my salon.
Ok So I didnt want to make to big an issue, so I told her if she comes in with her friend again and buys the lotion I reccomend and I will give her the tan for free.
Boy was she ever embarassed when she came out with a nice golden tan.
Just thought I needed to share this with everyone.

I am sorry to sound rude, but putting on SPF 30 SUNBLOCK to get a tan???? lol, thats just common sense, at least they are not frying themselves with AG accelerators in that, shall I say beautiful, Florida Sun at the beach. I wish i was at the beach...

Key: When they 1st come in do you explain lotions? If they say they already have one on do you ask what kind?

We have 1st time guests trying to use Bull Frog in the bed !!.... I am still unsure why they do this... but I am glad you posted it..

any client that would try to blackmail me , by saying they get thier way or "they will damage my business by bad mouthing me" would be getting a visit from the police.
You worked this to your benifit , good for you. We ask all clients if they have lotion and ask what they have before they tan, 5%-10% are going to use a sunscreen unless you catch them and tell them not to.

We found a few spf bottles in the trash (yes I inspect regularly to see who's out ), and yes, it takes all kinds, doesn't it? Sounds like she set you up but you won with the lotion sale, good for you, key!
