I think that this more a personal choice than anything else. I, personally, use the Maximum Hydration by Glimra, and yes I use it all over including my face. My face is very sensitive and tends to be oil prone, the maximum hydration does not cause any problems for me. Other lotions that have a heavy perfume cause me a ton of problems.

I am 34 and have to be very careful what I put on my face too. I break out like a teenager on too much pepsi and pizza. I take medication for acne and my doctor originally prescribed indoor tanning to control the problem.
I use ONLY CT Illuminate on my face now because it seems to be the only thing that doesn't make me break out. I use it prior to tanning and as a daily moisturizer. Does this help? |

What medication are you on for your skin? Just wanted to let you know to be very careful with the acne medications and the sun!!! im sure you know about it already..I was on accutaine for a while and got a really bad peeling sunburn when I went skiing about 3 years ago. I will ALWAYS wear my SUNSCREEN on my face outside all the time now... Your doctor really let u go tanning for your skin...thats weird because a LOT of Dermo's are pyschotic about being in da sun....lol I have used illuminate and love it....i guess i will stick with it. I also am interested in Australian Golds new stuff for the face...I think they give u a 4oz bottle.... _________________ "If I'm smart then I'll run away, but I'm not, so I guess I'll stay"[ This Message was edited by: Meltdbutta on 2002-02-25 17:18 ] |

I take 250 MG of Tetracycline 2X daily. I am also on a 5% benzol peroxide topical as needed. I have to be VERY careful when I'm in the sun. I'm a maniac about being in shade, wearing hats and using 45 sunblock. Sunscreen is not enough... I have to have the full day's protection or I just roast. My skin is so sensitive in the sunlight that within 20 minutes (even with sunblock) I feel like I am on fire. Even if I don't see a burn later... at the time it is very painful.
My doctor prescribed the tanning for two reasons. First she said that the UV exposure would dry up any outbreaks I had and I would break out less. Second she said that it would help me build a tolerance to UV rays if and when I did go out in the sun. She made sure to tell me to still use a sunscreen while outdoors. It was my own personal choice to go with a sunblock simply because of the strong reaction I had. I don't seem to have ANY reaction whatsoever to the indoor UV exposure I get. But... outdoors is really another story. I'm thinking of investing in one of those little umbrella cabanas I see down at the shore all the time. PS - I should mention that it's not just my face that I have to be careful with while exposed to the sun... my arms, legs, back... all of it are effected by the "burning" sensation. _________________ Laurie@tantalk.com [ This Message was edited by: Bronze Star on 2002-02-25 18:30 ] |

Have you tried Pro Active instead of the Dermos products? My son was on Brevoxl 8 and we tried the Pro Active 3 step program from TV. It works much better. Your face does not dry out and you don't have the sun problems. It runs about $40 per month and they mail it to your door depending upon the time frame you need it. He uses it 2 times a day and we have not had any problems with break outs:)

Nah... I can think of a million other ways to spend $40 a month. Besides, the routine I have not only works, but it's also free. My husband is military so Dr. visits and prescriptions are covered. If I was having trouble, I might look into something else... but aside from being careful in the sun (which ANYONE should do anyway) there are no other side effects. Mine regimine isn't tedious and it isn't drying. As a matter of fact, for my age I have no wrinkles.
