Thumbs up THE NEW ITA

Dear Robert,
At the board meeting in September and in subsequent meetings thereafter, the board took several bold steps designed to ensure an active and financially solvent ITA into 2014 and beyond.

First and foremost, the board reaffirmed that Federal regulatory and legislative issues are the ITA’s top priority. Not only must we be prepared to respond to the FDA’s final action on the proposed order to reclassify sunlamp products to class II medical devices but also be prepared to respond to the FDA’s amendments to the performance standard which the FDA could release at any time. In addition, our adversaries are very active on Capitol Hill and we have to continue to aggressively educate policy-makers and recruit allies in our on-going quest for fair treatment by the government.

Clearly, initiatives on Capitol Hill and actions taken by the FDA will have a significant impact on our industry for years to come, and the board made the decision to restructure ITA’s dues for 2014 so that the ITA has the revenue to continue to have an effective voice in Washington.

In regard to dues, the board combined its membership categories into one sector for general membership. Any company providing or performing indoor tanning services at the retail/salon level or engaged in manufacturing or distributing goods, equipment or products to the indoor tanning industry is eligible for membership in this category. A company’s annual dues is based on gross sales alone. The dues categories and payment options are listed on the attached invoice. If you would prefer to pay in two installments or quarterly by check or credit card, please give us a call and we can make arrangements to suit you.

We all know these challenges are serious. We also know there is strength in numbers. The ITA board is optimistic that this new sense of purpose will allow us to bring into the fight a number of important companies within the industry that have chosen to sit on the sidelines for the past year.

So while the path to success will not be easy, we also have to band together to make certain we have the resources to meet the challenges. Get involved in 2014 and let’s succeed together. Renew your ITA membership today!

Thanks for your continued support!
John Overstreet, Executive Director
