Rep Power: 16 | Welcome ITA Welcome ITA! This new forum is to communicate directly with the ITA and its board members. We have heard for a long time that there needs to be better communication between the ITA and its salon members so we created this forum in cooperation with the ITA to address just that. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Welcome ITA Robert, I say that because when I went to an ITA meeting and asked Dan why the ITA didn't try to get more salons into the ITA, he said that salons were not a priority for the ITA. Now there is a new organization for salon owners, started by board members of the ITA that have resigned from the board and they suddenly want to start to communicate with salon owners. Where were they for the years that people like Rick Kuber tried to move the ITA in another direction? For salon owners like Rick and others to leave the ITA says to me that the ITA is not the answer to their questions. Smart Tan also made a presentation to the ITA at that same meeting to become the fund raising arm for the ITA, just like they do for the Canadian Association, and they turned them down. They brought in over $400,000 a year for the Canadian Association. What do you think that they could have done for the ITA with many more salons in the U.S.? The ITA abandoned the trade show that brought them $800,000 a year and was their largest source of income without a plan to replace the money. Now Smart Tan runs the show and I would make a bet that they are making money off of the show. The ITA has always been a manufacture's organization and has never been about salons.

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Welcome ITA I don't disagree with a lot of what you say. The manufactures started the ITA over ten years ago because they had the money to do so. Back then there were not many large chains to fund the organization. However we are all in this together. The health and growth of our industry is good for all of us at all levels. The ITA has made mistakes and has not handled their relationships with salons well at all. I still think they serve an absolute purpose and until there in an organization that can better do what they do we all need to support them. I think one of their biggest issues is their lack of communication to salons of exactly what they do and how they do it. Maybe this forum will help correct that. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Welcome ITA Hello! My name is Kathreen Foster and I have been the membership coordinator for the ITA since July of this year. As the new member coordinator to for the ITA I strive to help resolve some of the troubles that individuals are having communicating with the ITA staff along with helping better communicate the efforts that the ITA continues to work on for its members. We are all in this together and salons are the backbone of our industry I apologize if there was some kind of miscommunication that led you to believe otherwise. Last year alone the ITA battled in 27 states along with massive lobbing efforts in affected states to preserve YOUR client’s right to tan. I hope that my presence here gives you the opportunity to voice your concerns to me and hopefully together we can rectify any of the misconceptions that some people may have towards the ITA and the efforts that we have made for the tanning industry. The ITA was originally formed by leaders in the manufacturing sector of the industry; the board has gradually become an excellent cross section of all industry components including salons, manufacturers, and distributors. Currently the ITA is made up of 3 sectors: a salon and a non-salon sector and allied businesses. The salon sector currently has roughly about 1400 salons and the non-salon is made up of about 50 manufacturers, distributors, or allied businesses. The ITA has made a tremendous effort in the past year alone in regards to salon participation. Our salon membership is up by nearly 20% and on a limited budget of just over $1,000,000 well over half of it was spent on fighting state legislative battles for salons. For the past eleven years, the ITA president is and had been a salon owner. While The ITA is by design a defense organization, we welcome and encourage any initiatives that are willing to help support, enhance and promote our industry in a responsible fashion. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss this issue further. ITA President Rob Quinn is also available to discuss this with you anytime. |

Rep Power: 23 | Re: Welcome ITA Welcome Kathreen to the on line salon community. I agree with Hot Stuff you might just be a little too late. I hope not. There will have to be a lot of changes on the ITA Board before I will donate my money again.... Too many people with too many egos. MR International is a member so in a way I am giving just not on a salon level. I agree we all should be in this together but nothing will change until some manufactures learn to get along with other manufactures. I will be giving my money to the ASA for now. |
