Question Stretchmarks & tanning

I just had a baby a month ago and i am eager to be able to start tanning again as my skin is rather milky white :( but pregnancy left me w/ lots of yucky stretchmarks and i'm wondering if tanning will make them worse, help hide them or have no affect at all?

I tried to google this but i just found a lot of negative info about tanning and suggestions of using a sunless tanner to help hide them which i'm not that fond of...

Re: Stretchmarks & tanning

I haqve heard of 2 lotions which claim to tan & help repair stretch marks -- Tanzotic's Xotic Explosion, and 3 Wishes Black. I carry the Tanzotic & it is a big seller round here -- the Gold has a nice caramel-y scent and feels light on the skin but moisturizers like you wouldn't believe.
I tried 3 Wishes Black once and didn't like the smell, the texture or anything else about it. I don't carry their stuff because of so-on-&-so-forth....

Generally speaking, those lines will not tan. Tanning does seem to help fade the redness of new ones, tho.... I'd still rather see a nice brown butt with a few lines that a milky white one tho!! :)

Congrats on the baby!

Re: Stretchmarks & tanning

for stretchmarks: STRIVECTIN

(not a tanning lotion; for diminishing stretchmarks)

Re: Stretchmarks & tanning

Nicole, Glowtan is right Tanzotic (emu oil) has the best reputation for stretch marks and tanning. I've heard some vegetatains won't use it though. Goodluck. :)

Re: Stretchmarks & tanning

glotan i have to disagree!! I have/had horrible stretch marks from when i was pregnant with my daughter and they tan right along with all of my other skin. I haven't used either of the products that you suggested, but various other ones and my marks look sooooo much better. NOw it could be that mine are older (my daughter is 4 now) and had already turned white. I can see where "fresh" red ones might not tan......

Re: Stretchmarks & tanning

I have never tried tanzotic, but I do use pure emu oil when i tan. I had twins and I'm a small girl and when i was pregnant someone told me about emu oil. I applied it twice a day everyday, put on over 70 pounds (weighed 110 pre-preggers) and only got a few stretch marks on my sides. I apply the oil only where i have the stretch marks when i tan and you can barely see them. Emu is said to be the only oil to penetrate past the first layer of the skin... Not quite sure if thats true but thats what the lady told me who sold it to me. You can find it online, but I buy it from an old time-y health food store. It is a bit pricey but I'm sold on it!!

I'm also interested in covering up stretch marks and also having solutions with very moisturizing properties, however I'm a vegetarian, and don't really like the sound of using Emu Oil from Tanzotic. Anyone know if (virgin cold pressed) coconut oil is an ingredients of any good tan solutions? Thanks!
