I went to try on bathing suits last week in anticipation for my trip to Florida and I was freaked out because I've put on some extra weight this winter. A friend told me to snack on dried out beef jerky everyday. I LOVE BEEF JERKY! I normally weight 110 pounds and I lost 7 pounds in one week! Your getting all the protein you need so I wouldn't worry about the lack of nutrition but I've been on a beef jerky and H20 and diet Pepsi diet and I am losing weight..............AND constantly feeling full. Never hungry! You are still very young but just a warning that as you get older, it doesn't come off as easy as it used to. I've never had a weight problem and never had to watch what I eat until now but I am 10 years older than you. Good Luck..... Last edited by missyhot; 03-16-2006 at 10:52 AM. |

With the yogurt.. look for "Lactobacillus acidophilus" or live culture on the ingredient list. It helps balance the bacteria in the intestines. That means better digestion. Protein shakes are a grate tool. Stay away from slim fast and that type of meal replacement, there is a lot of sugar in them. Bring a blender to the salon get some whey or soy protein at the health food store. Mix it with 1 or 2% milk and frozen fruit of your choice. Try not to mix proteins and starches at the same meal for example if you have stake try mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes. If you have, pasta use a veggie sauce instead of a meat sauce. Try not to eat anything for at least 2 hours before going to bed. Last edited by Kay; 03-16-2006 at 10:47 AM. |

I had a baby 10 months ago. During my pregnancy I gained 65 wopping pounds. I lost 30 within the first week (water)...but couldn't lose any more to save my life (& I exclusivly breastfed for the first 6 months, still nursing now...they say that will shed the lbs) quote] CONGRATS TO YOU ALL FIRST OFF! sunchick just for you ~ i had a baby not to long ago either and they are right not only will the nursing help your baby but it helps you lose the weight faster....problem is this....once you get within 5-10 pounds of your goal or previous weght - your body goes into preservation mode. it needs to be able to still provide milk for your baby and retains a certain amount of body fat (i was told this by my trainer) and you all are hitting the nail on the head too with the sleep link. congrats on your baby too! they are the best! |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: What am I doing wrong? beef jerky is FANTASTIC. It's lean, it's all protein and fills you up and it's actually good for ya. The PROBLEM with most "diet" drinks/food is that they are low calorie but have ZERO nutritional value. So drinking a "diet soda" isn't really a good thing cause your body can't break it down naturally. It has to use additional resources to get this out of your body so you are really getting "negative" nutrition from a diet product. Anglecat (as usual) is right on the money. Eat WHOLESOME foods, filled with fiber, protein and clean fats all day long and you are never causeing a "wave" effect with your metabolism. You can lose a TON of weight if you just stop eating. Problem is the bosy responds and slows down in response to the slow metabolism. NOW, if you eat ANYTHING with calories you are going to notice it. If you never eat then start eating "negative" nutrition foods them you REALLY are going to be a mess. Brain activity gets goofy, you get twitchy, irritated, moody. Word of adivce, EAT AS THE ITALIANS EAT BUT IN MODERATION. Do NOT follow ANY americanized way of dieting. AMERICANS SUCK at diets, (and everything else basically but). We are NOT focused on makeing people healthy UNLESS we can make some serious long term monies from it. Food that makes you FAT is not necessarly bad for you, just TOO MUCH. Unless it's fast food or something that's just not really food to begin with. That's why this week it's THIS diet, (then it falls off the popularity charts) and next week it's something else. Americans want ABSOLUTE, and they will never get it cause it doesn't exist in ANY form.

Rep Power: 21 | Re: What am I doing wrong? Yes beef jerky is high in protein but its also high in sodium (MSG to be exact.) so if you have hart disease (high blood pressure or high cholesterol) it would not be a good source of protein. Mikejones is absolutely correct when it comes to eating wholesome food and the Diet Soda. Soda takes calcium away form the bones. Not to mention that some has sucralose or aspartame in it. By the way, aspartame has been found to convert into formaldehyde when stored at temps above 86 degrees F. Again Mikejones is correct in regards to eating like the Italians. Italy has a very low rate of hart disease. But that’s a different topic. PCS apparently you have done something right. I would be very interested in what you did to loose the weight and how you are managing to keep form gaining it back. Last edited by Kay; 03-17-2006 at 06:41 AM. |
