if someone asks you if it is safe to tan when you are pregnant, that is dangerously close to giving medical advice. I always say something like "I don't know of any reason that it would be harmful to tan in moderation while pregnant, but you need to ask your doctor if there is any risk to your baby from tanning. Then you can make an informed decision."

I agree with you, but think you should be able to say the first part of your anwer which shows you're being informed. Customers ask you for advice on so many subjects, this is one of them I think you should be able to say something 'wise'. You need to know about the risk of the heat and the melasma.

But it's always wise to say that you don't know if you really don't know instead of saying something stupid :-)

Do many of you offer infrared sauna? it's a risk for people with implants! The metal gets too hot.

I spent most of my pregnancy at a friend's pool (the only place I was going that fat) during the GA summer heat.

That said, the girl who works for me is pregnant and her doctor told her "No tanning". I'm NOT going to argue with her doctor. She's a great asset to the biz even if she's pasty white :)

I am 6 months pregnant and my Dr said it was ok to tan in a bed.. Just do it in moderation.
