Re: PREGNANT

Thanks Scub! I was under the false impression we couldn't in ON . . . double checked & it is a clause in our insurance to get the second waiver in addition to the standard tanners- I am going to call our broker & ask about this again

Re: PREGNANT

missyhot - pregnant woman driving cars and going to work is not a necessity. 100 years ago women would be out in the fields plowing the lower forty in the hot sun all day, have the kid, clean it off and go back to finish the plowing.

....Any expectant mom needs to be well hydrated - - - and this is an issue for tanners as well.... So water before and after each session should be a given.

Missy ~ I know you are going to think I am 'starting something' .... but I am really concerned by your stance on this ~ as well as comments about the 'necessity' for indoor tanning....

The majority here seems to think it would be OK........My opinion is WHY CHANCE IT AT ALL? I would personally not tan if I were pregnant. That is life, why would you take any risk whatsoever but then again I know women who smoked through there entire pregnancy.

You seem to have some of the SAME anti-tan brainwashed ideas about our services..... and have not understood the real BENEFITS of UV to life ~ ~ it's neccessity for healthy living.

If you truly believe that indoor tanning is dangerous ~ how could you be in the business?

To me .... to deprive someone from indoor tanning (espeically at this time of the year in my neck of the woods)... well, it would be like denying them clean water to drink or clean air to breath....

To equate Tanning while pregnant and Smoking while pregnant like you have..... well, I got to say ~ ~ I honestly don't know HOW you got to this point.

Re: PREGNANT

No to my knowledge there are no regulations anywhere in Canada, prohibiting preggy's tanning. I have no problem with it. Also if there is any uncertainty by you or the client, do not encourage the tanning and "signing a waiver" will never cover your a**. A thought- if a "nervous mom" tans, and say gets drunk everynight/falls down/ or improper nutrition then miscarries, then blame will not go on those other sources but onto that tanning session, and/or your business..

Re: PREGNANT

We freeze their packages until after birth, simply because some people will blame tanning for all problems that may occur. Just seems safer.

Re: PREGNANT

Personal opinion - not a good idea to let a woman tan if pregnant. Liability is much too great ... even if it had nothing to do with the tanning, if there is a problem with the baby, they will search for reasons, and it's just subjecting yourself to the risk of being blamed. Most (not tall) tanning beds DO increase your body temperature more than laying in the sun. Our HP beds have cooling systems, and would probably be the best bet ... but it would still make me nervous.

Re: PREGNANT

I've been in HP that would fry an egg..... so I'm not a fan of that option ~ ~ also... with the premise that we NEED uvB to stimulate the healthy processes - seems like a waste of time..... but that is just my opinion.

One thing I will *note* .....

and again ~ ~ it's my opinion......

But anyone that really believes their equipment / services could be a danger to anyone (when used in a sensible way) .... well, I think they should NOT be in the business.

Truly - if you worry about Anti-Tan being RIGHT .....then all the education in the world cannot help you.

I guess there is alot of people that CAN'T sleep at nite????

Consider that most OB/GYNs do 'ok' indoor tanning for their patients .... I guess I can't understand where the confusion and concern comes from within this industry.
