Cuts for men is not owned by Curves. It is a different franchise company. I wouldn't worry about it anyway. I do not think that Curves will be around in the next 10 years. America is catching on that their rickty equipment does not work. I belong to a ladies only club called Contours Express and their equipment blows Curves away. I did belong to Curves for 2 years and lost 10 pounds the first 3 months and then nothing else after that. After I joined Contours Express, I have steadily lost 25 pound over the past 6 months. The club has been open for a year and a half and now the Curves club down the street is up for sale. I see all the same faces at Curves now at Contours Express. Butterfly Life has the same excellent equipment, but there is not one in my area. Curves was the first, but there are better clubs now out there.

I agree the Curves equipment is cheap, but that is why they are the #1 selling franchise right now. I have no idea how much it takes to open a Curves, but the one I am going to right now is not much more than 4 walls with a circle of equipment. Gotta be a gold mine to whoever owns one. $40 a month and I talked to the owner, her goal is to have 1000 signed up by the end of the year....you do the math. Operating costs??? Hmmmm, employees, paper in the one bathroom they have, utilities, I dunno....

What self respecting man would want to work out there anyway? Their machines have almost no tension on them. You'd have to be a real Poindexter man to get any kind of resistance on them. This is all about some guy with "baggage", a lawyer, and nothing better to do. Don't worry ladies, it's still "your" place. Good luck, and fell the burn!

I totally agree! Curves had a great concept but now there is something much, much better. I now belong to a Contours Express and I am seeing many familiar faces from when I belonged to Curves. They seem to be leaving Curves in droves. Contours Express has weight based equipment - not the hydraulic stuff. They have everything I loved about Curves only more and better. If you have not seen one of these facilities, check their website and see if there is one near you and check it out. I'm so, so glad I made the switch. I'm starting to see results again!

Other than moving away.... -------------------- Are you being serious? If so...There are a few ways to get out of the contract..(1) just go in there and tell them you want to cancel, 30 day notice, plus it will revert back to what they would have charged if you were on a month to month (usually $10 more a month) or if you get a medical hold from your doctor saying that you cannot workout any longer due to an injury that will usually get you out of it immediately. |
