Re: Eat before or after...
You can’t burn off what you Just ate because your body has not metabolized it yet.

Hi There - I am a competitive figure competitor for the NANBF and I always workout in the mornings before I eat. Due to the sleep cycles, you actaully burn fat while you sleep and there is one last stage of fat to burn right when you wake up. I have always seen the best results working out in the mornings before eating because you are able to burn through this last cylce of fat more effectively than you would if you ate prior to hitting the gym.
Hope that helps... by the way... I hold a regional title where I compete, so this is not just random info. It actaully makes a huge difference! please feel free to contact me with other questions - :) |

Re: Eat before or after...
lol think of this.. if you eat right before your body doesn't have time to digest the food so you wouldn't be burning that up. things you shouldn't eat before are simple sugars and carbs because they digist the fastest and you could use those to burn.

Re: Eat before or after...
Personally, if I were to NOT eat before going to the gym, I'd probably be passing out. Actually, last week I didn't have time to eat some breakfast before working out, and I felt so incredibly tired by the end of it. I don't think eating a huge meal is a good idea, that'll make you sick. I wake up, eat some oatmeal and half a cup of egg whites, get ready, relax, and then go to the gym. I'm not a nutritionist, and I'm not an expert in any way, but not eating before exercise seems like a terrible idea to me. How are you going to have enough energy to do any work? Low calories, low fat, low sodium, low sugar...that's what I stick to and it works, I feel great, look great and I have energy to do a great workout. I also eat after the gym. So I guess I'm going against everyone? |
