The health benefits of Infrared Saunas have been well documented.

I've stared collecting articles and reviews on saunas too - My parents have a traditional Finnish Sauna on the shore of a spring-fed lake. The sauna heater is wood-fired and the cedar interior is great for spashing water all around the walls as well as on the rocks. If it's done correctly, a traditional sauna can work up a great sweat even at low temps - but it's just not practical to put that kind of sauna in our basement.

We are looking at Infrared sauna options as well.

Great to hear of a few different brands from this post that I've never checked out!

All the best,

Tyrahnic

Re: Infrared Sauna

Hi everybody. We have a Formostar system at our our tanning salon/spa. It is doing well for us. I am on here looking for a good buy on a used one. I would like to add one more before the season kicks in.

You can find some infrared sauna manufacturers here: http://www.infraredsaunainformation.com/wheretobuy.html (there is a targeted sauna search too)-- shop around for the features you want and the amps used 15/20. Lots of dealers have free shipping now, so consider this a given benefit when placing an order (make sure you get it).

Re: Infrared Sauna

You should check out http://www.infraredsaunainformation.com There is a list of manufacturers (where to buy) and some interesting information on FAR infrared saunas. IR saunas are great for relaxation, detoxification, and even a great cardiovascular workout!

In this economy are you still doing 3+ wraps a day and how much are you charging for them. We are looking to add either Formostar or Fit Body Wraps to our tanning salon VERY SOON.

Re: Infrared Sauna

We just purchased a Sunlighten Signature Corner unit for our new tanning salon. We have just opened it, but are getting a very good response, even in the very rural area we live in. I also presented this to my chiropractor (along with a free session in the sauna) & he is very interested in referring patients over to use it therapeutically. I have also found benefits in tanning directly afterwards...with the increased blood flow to your skin, you get a good tanning boost...kind of the same idea behind the tingle lotions increasing blood flow. Definitely need to encourage hydration, though & we have people sign a waiver to use the sauna as well.

Re: Infrared Sauna

What size of sauna do you recommend in to the salon, wouldn't be better to get for example 3x 1 person saunas than 1x 3 person sauna? Some people prefer to be alone in the sauna than to share the sauna with others, what do you think?

Re: Infrared Sauna

Love my 3 person Signature Infrared Sauna. During the winter, I'll jump into it once or twice a week, great addition to my workout room at home.

As far as putting one into a tanning salon - do you expect customers to pay to get sweated up? Do you have a shower available?

Maybe someone will jump in and relate their experience to the contrary, but I have never heard of any tanning salon making money with a sauna booth.

My sauna paid for itself the first month I had it in the tanning salon. Tanning salon owners need to learn how to think outside of the box and educate staff members on other equipment. I've yet to have a customer say they didn't like it or get any benefit from it. Market it to sunless customers as well as tanning bed customers.
