After Inquiring about exposure times with a new client she informed me she was tanning at a competitiors location for 1 hour sessions 5 times a week for the last month!!!!!!Not believing this,I went to the competitors salon for kicks and asked If I could tan for an hour,and to my amazement she charged me $10.00 for the session and a $1.00 for the extra half hour!!!!!!I was not even asked about previous exposure or anything.Anybody have an experience like this and if so what could I do?I'd love to narrow down the comp a little ,any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard of people going 30 minutes in a 20 minute bed. Never an hour you'd be hospitalized. Even if you had very dark skin I think you'd be in trouble there. Where did this take place. I'll call and ask how long i can tan and how much it costs. Give the info please.

For crissakes an hour, I have heard of 30 minute sessions in 20 minute beds, but an hour that is crazy.

Either they are really old lamps or the owner is not too bright!!! Yet another black eye for our industry. This salon needs to be turned in before they cause any more damage to clients.

a lot of salons allow double session.that would be 1 hour in a 30 min bed.or 40 min in a 20 min bedor 20 min in a 10 min booth.double sessions are common.some people with very dark skin have no problem at all.fair skinned people will fry.we don't recommend it and advise against it and tell why. but many salons That I know of let clients do this, as well as let them tan every day for like 30 days in a row.

we do not recommend more then 4 sessions a week to get the tan and 1-2 sessions a week to maintain a tan.But month unlimited, thats 30 days in a row are common. In our cityWe don't sell such packages.

i had a girl come in about 2 weeks ago and said she was tanning at another place and wasn't gettin any darker. i explained she should on do 10-15 mins in my beds to make sure she didn't burn. she said, "i have been taning 45min. just about everyday for the last 2 months" no way to look at her. so i insisted 15 min. she wanted full 20min session. havent'seen her since. usually this means she burnt bad and when she gets over it will be back for a package. I really do not like to burn people but how do you convince them that your beds are diff. that the junk they have tanned in for 45 - 60 min. is not as strong as our beds. maintance does not registar with some people.[This message has been edited by buntanner (edited 05-30-2001).]

The customers that tan that much don't realize they are possibly overoxposing themselves which inturn, could lead to them not getting any darker
