Hi Everyone- We are as you would say "rookies" to Tan Talk and the Tanning Salon Business. We are looking for some insight on what you (other salon owners) think of selling minute packages compared to sessions. Example:120 minutes for $356 Sessions for $35We would really appreciate anyone's knowledge or experience on this subject. Thanks for your time in viewing Christina & Steve |
I sell sessions on entry level equipment and high presure. I sell minute packages on VHR equipment seems to work well because they think they are getting more for there money. This is more important because of the higher cost 90 minutes $89.99 instead of 10 tans $89.99. This also allows them to tan a little more often but generally leaves them with an odd number of minutes left. From what I've seen it makes them more likely to buy another package to use up thier few remaining minutes. I personally would stay away from this though on entry level beds. Sell the result not the time |
okay, JeffinKC, you say to stay away from min. in entry level beds, Why? I have Sunease program installed, haven't gotten to use it yet, that's another story, but I offer my clients a split session right now, which consisit of 2 ten-min. sessions and counts as 1 visit. I do this because I don't want them to burn starting out. What else can I do once I set my beds through the computer? My clients like this split visit I offer cause they don't feel like they are losing money. No other salon in my town offer this and charge them a whole session even if they only lay 5 min. It has been very good for my biz. Clients really appreciate this |
If it works for you please continue doing it. I just have a hard time selling someone a tan for 6 bucks and letting them divide it into 2 or 3 sessions. As I stated if your charging more it may be justified but why does the customer care if they tan for 5 minutes or 20 as long as they see the result that is appropriate for thier skintype. I've never had anyone who had a problem with this once I explained that they were paying based on results not minutes. Just my opinion but I think you will make more money this way |
I see your point. But I don't want people to burn, and they do in my beds if I don't start them slow. How do I convince them that they are tanning and not losing 10-15 min. if I set program on visits instead of min.? Thanks for you reply. |
